I agree he's shown some improvement but time will tell if he's just hot or if this is something we can expect on a regular basis. He has been horrid up until recently.
You have a strange definition of horrid. It sounds like you are hoping to see him fail. Good for you.
He all of a sudden is hitting for power, but: His K-rate this season is 32.7% (24% last year) His BB-rate this season is 5.5% (9.5% last year) He will be 26 in a few weeks. He is hitting a ridiculous .462 BABIP. It isn't even close to sustainable.
I think 48 AB's is too few few to tell anything (this season). Lets see where he is at come September.
He has harped on incredibly silly points and gone on his little brilliant crusades before. Just let it go. There are moments of clarity mixed in.
I would absolutely love to get a few of you guys into a batting cage. I know for a fact you can look at a spreadsheet, I have no idea if you can look at a baseball, much less the mechanics of a swing.
Mechanics? I don't have a problem with his mechanics. I hate Bagwell's stance. I hate J.D.'s swing. What matters is production. Pitch recognition is pretty important to hitting a baseball.
OK. Of all the things one could b**** about in Astroland, he would be somewhere around #192. It's comical that you say things like "the point is the improvement isn't there" when you haven't seen the guy swing a bat (until 3 days ago) in how many months? Stop it. There are things you have to see, to see.
Holy crap, Wally shed 35lbs between last year and this year: It's a pretty nice write-up on Wally at Ultimate Astros.
You could kind of tell that by looking at him. He looks a lot skinnier in the face than he did last year.
