What'd you want him to do? We already used up all of our relievers who are worth a damn. Except for maybe Del Rosario but he's pitched the past two day and threw 30 pitches yesterday. Meanwhile Lyon has thrown once in the last week and can probably give you another inning. Lyon was probably going to stay in whether we took the lead or not.

Funny, nobody ever posts anything when the managers moves work.

In this case, Mills had no better options. Melancon may be the closer by June at this rate.

You are right, in the heat of the moment I wasn't thinking about it.

Indeed, kid has the stuff just need the oppurtunity. Let him go through the learning process this year and get him ready to roll next season.

Enough can't be said about the great starts for Wallace, Bourn, Sanchez, Melancon, and our catchers.

That near triple play by the Astros was certainly something. That was insane, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.

Honestly, these guys are the only thing that excites me about the home team this year... Well maybe with the exception of Sanchez.

As in all rebuilding years, I've been more excited to be checking out the minor league box scores every morning as opposed to the big league club (especially lexington which has all of last years first roundes).

But I still think the big league club will be closer to .500 than in the cellar when it's all said and done. Wallace is starting to match his minor league projections which is huge. Melancon is a bulldog. If these two guys continue to pan out, then those trades look better and better... And that's before looking at the progress of Villar (who could be a future star) and Paredes.

i wonder if there's ever been a 3 tag-out triple play in mlb history. seems unlikely.

fun win last night. lyon is clearly not a closer (or much of a pitcher of any sort). doesn't have a strikeout pitch. i know JD alluded to him having pinpoint control last night, but that barely matters if you don't have the stuff to go with it.

wallace sure is an interesting one. the guy can clearly rake, but the big homer #'s will likely never be there because he has a line drive swing (also mentioned by JD). because of the desire for a boatload of HR's from your 1st baseman these days, I can't think of too many great-hitting 1st basemen in recent memory who don't knock many out of the park. sean casey comes to mind. todd helton recently i guess.

let's get a gem out of wandy today, and take this series. the central is still garbage, and we should still make some noise as long as our starting pitchers all round into form.

Some of them might be putting too much in to it and not enough in to being a consistent pitcher.

I've been really happy with towles' batting this year. We need to try him out at third base next year if his bat keeps going like this.

Also, we need to release j mike and call up clemens or shuck or bogey to take his spot, he's been terrible this year

Another young, lefty first baseman who's had a top prospect billing and hasn't hit the power HR numbers but more for a high average is Elkins alum James Loney

I like to pretend you're Wally Joyner.

I am Wally Joyner! And add my name to the list of lefty first basemen who hit for average and not power
