A lot of people were watching Roy tonight to see how he would handle himself after the trade request. How does he respond? Beast mode. Dude has always pitched with no fear. It's been a pleasure to have him in Houston no matter how things end up.
Jimenez is also in beast mode again tonight. He has a shutout going through 7 and his ERA is down to 0.90.
109 pitches. The only thing that could make this more of a statement game is if he finishes it off. Pressure is a foreign concept to Roy Oswalt.
I only started following this team in about 2002 but I hear you. A special talent. If he had pitched for the Yankees or Red Sox, he'd be a household name.
September 11, 2008 vs. Pittsburgh. That was the second of 2 straight CGSO's. He 1-hit Colorado in the start before.
I want to say I was at his big league debut vs the Reds in 2001. Lima was getting destroyed again so Dierker put Oswalt in and he shut them out for like 6 innings. Stros almost came back to win but in the end lost, I think thats how it went.
Berkman was inches away from a nearly perfect tonight. A few more feet and he would have gone 1B, 1B, 1B, BB, HR.
He really became my favorite player the moment I saw him kill it with his big looping curveball and his mid-90s fastball. His antics this year have taken some of the shine off of him this year, but I have to forgive my favorite players frustration in the worst year of his career.
I have never been able to find any criticism with Oswalt, even last season or this season. I just have too much respect for the guy. Same with Berkman.
