I have been dying to see if they stop the game for the presentation of the green jacket lol.... If its worth anything....brianmctaggart If the Astros lose, they'll be 56-60. Same record they had in '04 before going on 36-10 run
first of all, there's an unspoken rule of how you should handle "stud" pitchers...you don't let them sit out there and get demolished when they clearly have nothing that night. but 2nd of all, who gives a rats ass about "wasting" the bullpen anyway? the season is over, but, either way, is there a team in the league where "tiring relievers" is talked about as much as the astros? bunch of vaginas. i can't imagine what pitchers from 40+ years ago must think of hearing crap like that. don't want to tire these guys out for their 1-2 innings/game every few days. and god forbid they have to pitch 1 inning for 2 straight games!!
but this isn't 40 years ago and NO TEAM plays baseball like that anymore. it also isn't coopers fault he has an ancient bullpen and a spotty starting rotation. wandy let this game get away, not coop. it happens.
I say let Wandy go atleast 5 innings its clear he doesn't have it but the pen is dead...I am sure Coop spoke to him about it right, he did talk to him right?!?!
At least 5? He's thrown about 85 pitches already. It would be fantastic if he could go 5 at this point.
who blamed cooper for letting the game get away?? and i understand the game has changed, and i obviously don't watch many non-Astros baseball games, but it just seems like there is way more "gotta conserve the bullpen" chatter with the Stros than there should ever be. every night it seems. sick of hearing it.
He would have needed a nice quick 4th but yea you're right a little to ambitous I guess...I just hope we dont get embarrased 15-0 or something like it!
What? The top pitchers are the innings-eaters. They are always the ones that are left in the longest when struggling because they are the ones that can recover and get outs. If it was Bud Norris or Brian Moehler, you yank him. If it's Oswalt or Wandy, you try to get a few extra innings out of him. That's how every team plays.
incorrect. when one of your top pitchers is getting drilled to the point where the game is out of reach, they get pulled. this came to mind: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=290614110
105 pitches. This has been a craptastic last hour or so of Wandy's life. I hope he kicks some ass next time out.
The only thing I want to see happen tonight short of an epic comeback is Kaz getting that friggin' hit so we can stop hearing about it.
