Shouldn't Ned Yost be questioned for allowing Sabathia to throw 130 pitches in a 9-3 game? I suspect they are assuming they won't sign him so they don't care about next year, but you never know when Ausmus may line one off your knee.
Looks like Buster Olney is questioning it: "I clicked over to the Brewers' game late in their victory on Monday night and saw that CC Sabathia was coming to bat in the bottom of the eighth inning -- with a six-run lead. He has been incredible, hitting and driving in runs and running his record to 8-0, but he wound up throwing a season-high 130 pitches in a one-sided game. Sabathia is totally invested in the Brewers' cause, and he would never say no to whatever he is asked to do. It does seem to be way above and beyond the call of duty to throw what he believes to be a career-high pitch total in a game in which your team leads by seven runs: This is what Milwaukee's advantage was going into the top of the ninth. We're only halfway through August and Sabathia already has 195 innings. He has five complete games in nine starts for the Brewers. We saw him struggle in the postseason last year, when he entered the playoffs with 50 more innings thrown than Josh Beckett. Why not save the bullets, when you can, for September and October? And there were bullets to be saved on Monday night." http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3542196&name=olney_buster
Jesus Hunter. At least swing at pitches that aren't going to the backstop, lol. What do you guys think Pence's future is as a hitter? Pitchers have adjusted to him obviously and coupled with the fact that as a whole our offense hasn't been performing well this season along with a sophomore season slump from Pence. Will he return to the .300 power hitter he was in the minors and the .322 hitter his first year? Or is this season going to the the norm for him? about a .260-.270 avg with 70-80 rbi a year?
I'm convinced Moehler is trying to see how many base runners he can have on per inning until he makes this a circus, lol.
If it helps any, I was playing The Bigs earlier today and allowed 13 hits but only 3 runs. I hope it applies to our situation here.
Yeah that was pretty bad, lol. At least C.C. threw 5000 pitches and will probably need a replacement arm thanks to Yost by the end of the season.
Looks like it's just me and you tonight stobbart, lol. Nice that we didn't let Sheets off the hook that inning. We tried . Is it just me or does Blum's physical build seem like he'd be a 45 hr hitter a year? Yet, he's been a career janitor pretty much since coming into the league.
Yep, just the two of us at the mo. What you reckon, take this series 2-1, reducing the deficit to 6.5 games with 35 to go, then make a miraculous run to take the wild card?
Exactly. Winning the series would be nice but nothing short of a crazy run gets the wild card wrapped up.
