This could be a real tough series ... I'm very concerned about Albers going tonight with how he has performed in AAA, but hopefully he can get it going. What the hell ... WWW
Yep, but White's well rested for a 2 inning stint. If Albers can go 5+, they're in good shape. Wheeler's the only guy who might be unavailable tonight.
Brewers fans shouldn't be booing Lee... they got a kick-ass closer for him in return. The Rangers are the ones that got screwed... gave up quality pitching for him (which they don't have much of), and lost him for nothing.
"Carlos and Prince could start a little sumo match over there at 1st base..." Classic JD... (nice steal by Sumo Lee)
Anybody have any ideas as to why we called up Albers and not Nieve? Based upon their stats from both spring training and the minors, it seems like Nieve would have been the logical choice.
Yikes. Albers is all over the place right now. The stuff is there, the control and poise is not. Thankfully, out of the inning with only 1 run of damage.
Albers doesn't seem to have any control over whatever it is he's throwing. It took a little luck to get out of that inning.
Albers has better stuff, and the Astros liked what they saw of him in ST. It remains to be seen if he can keep his composure, and have good enough control to stay up here. Nieve also struggles with control... but he's very much in this club's long-term plans.
This ump already is annoying... gives Sheets every outside call, but squeezes the rook. However, given Albers' lack of control, its understandable to not give him the benefit of the doubt (but still annoying).
Looks like Nieve has less control. He's given up more hits and walked twice as many batter. It looks like the thing that has hurt Albers is giving up the longball.
Which is odd since he has a 95mph fastball that SINKS. I know its easier said than done, but if he harnesses control of that thing... oooh boy.
