ahh ok, i admit i was pretty much making up that whole story.

since hirsh was our best prospect in the minors , i automatically assumed it was because he struckout everyone. :)

I hope Wandy is sharp tomorrow or we get another 10 run game since the offense seems to click when Wandy is pitching.

Borkowski is actually likely in line to make Tuesday's start in St. Louis (according to astros.com). Sampson isn't stretched out enough, since he was being used as a closer in Round Rock, and Albers is pitching for the Express in the playoffs (which I seriously don't understand... sacrificing a possible extra MLB arm for minor league playoff success?).

These seven games against St. Louis could give this team a shot at the division... I would hope they would try to avoid putting guys like Dave Borkowski out there at all costs... but alas, it looks like that's what's going to happen.

People made it sound like Hirsh was amazing and all, but he seems like a normal pitcher to me.

If a rookie is making three quality starts in a row, that's inherently better than "normal."

And if he's improving each game after having only a handful of starts in the majors, that's called progress.

Every pitcher out there can't be as good as Oswalt, Pettite, or Clemens... sometimes people need to realize how lucky/spoiled everybody here has been over the last 3 years getting to watch these guys. Most teams struggle to find just ONE guy who could put up HALF the peformances that those three have a chance to give you every time they step on the mound.

All part of the reason that priorities 1,2 and 3 for next year have to be retaining Pettite/Clemens and finding a replacement for Backe. Address the offense as well, but not at the cost of selling the pitching short.

Starters - Keeping Pettite and Roger if possible
Bullpen - Get Lidge right and Qualls too
Hitting - Ausmus or Everett needs a replacement that can hit over .270

3 things they need to improve upon in the offseason.

I really hope that they dont use Borkowski as a starting pitcher. He hasnt gotten it done at all lately. We are finally playing good baseball....we dont need to ruin it.

if the gods are on our side (astros win and cards lose) tonight, we could be in a position to be only ONE game back for the division by wednesday

i really hope we get back to .500 today, because the last time we were a game back from .500 and lost, we went in our infamous 5 straight against the pirates and cubs, and lost 8 out of 10 overall.

and when ya think about it, it's now or never, there won't be many more chances to make some kind of run with just 20 or so games left.

I feel it. It's gonna happen. Sweep city. I have my Stros shoes and tattoo working so it's on like cable. I just wish Sampson would have got the start. Wandy is more experienced so I understand the decision.

Watching Wandy pitch is like watching a guy walking the line in a high-wire act. I sure hope they have the security net (offensive explosion) ready to go.

Speaking of sick, Everett, 2 errors in last 83 games. How can people think he sucks? He's da bomb. Sure, he bombs out at bat the majority of the time but he's a SS.

Garner needs to be fired ...

There is no excuse for throwing Wandy and our Season out there every 5 days
