Man AE sucks. His glove isn't worth the big black hole we've got there in the batting order.

    /sarcasm off

I bet Clemens wishes he had started tonight now.

That's a ridiculous shot by Big P. That must have been about 460 or so. Wow. Lance is on fire again. .312 39 HR 120 RBI

Damn Biggio sucks. No reason he should be in the lineup over Burke. Biggio is below average defender who has hit under .200 last each of the last two months. I want him to get 3000 hits but not at the teams expense.

If Berkman hit that ball at Minute Maid Park that would have been in the 2nd deck above the restaurant toward in the Coca Cola pavillion or maybe that ivy above the center field terrace.

Alright! We've FINALLY caught the Reds. (barring tragedy)

We're not really gonna stop this sweeeeeeet mo by pitching stupid Wandy tomorrow, are we?

Time to call up Taylor & give him that slot back. Wandy is pathetic.

I would absolutely go with Bucholz or Albers over Wandy, but I guess they want to lineup Pettitte, Oswalt, Clemens for the Cards series. If St.L loses tonight we would only be 5 out of the division with 7 head to head matchups left with St.L. Its improbable but I wouldn't be shocked if we caught the Cardnals for the division

Hey Dave I know you've got a big lead to work with, but would you stop messing around and just get through the inning?

Borkowski is a below average career pitcher... he always has been.

Over the long run, especially in baseball, guys always somehow get back to their career averages as the season goes on... and you can see why Garner didn't give into the BBS' demands of giving Dave more of a prominent role when Qualls/Lidge were struggling.

Gotta finish it off tomorrow. 2 out of 3 is not going to get it done.

i know i've mentioned this a dozen times...

but why does hirsh suck balls in terms of strikeouts?

wasn't that the whole point, that hirsh was a power pitcher in the minors?

    3 games out!!!

SF beats SD today too... we'll be chasing them soon enough.

    we're now 1 games under .500 also.

Where did you hear that was the point?

Hirsh gets some K's with the high fastball, but he's never struck guys out at Clemens, Lidge, or even Oswalt-type rates at any point in his career. In fact, scouts said that while he picked up a few miles on his fastball, he's always been ultra-effective when he's throwing in the low 90's down in the strike zone, with a little sink.

He wasn't giving up this many long balls, but that's part of the inherent difference between the minors and the majors (MLB hitters can get to some of those high fastballs).

I think as his career goes along, he will pick up his fair share of K's... simply because his control is pretty good (and improving), and he's able to spot his fastball/slider/changeup on both sides of the plate, each pitch having its own brand of movement. Kinda like Berkman isn't a HR hitter, but still picks up plenty of them because he hits the ball so damn good... I expect similiar results from Jason with his pitching and K's.

For now, however, the guy's still a rookie, who's not likely to feel fully adjusted till the start of next season... and his need to have time to make the adjustment to a new league is an issue that has been well documented.

But despite all this, he's put together 3 straight quality starts, with two of them being against pretty good hitting teams... I'll take that from a guy who's essentially still getting his feet wet.
