good point. i wanted borkowski today too, but he pitched like 6 inn on tuesday night and that would mean he would go on only 3 days rest.

backe is on the 15-day dl....didn't even know he got hurt yesterday?

If Bork is tired, give Nieve more of an opportunity than merely a couple of innings in long-relief stints. He's earned it. Anyone but Wandy, for that matter.

Wandy Rodriguez really struggled in AAA.

    Pitched 5 games so far:

    26 IP/32 H/21 R/20 ER/13 BB/13 SO ERA:6.92

ya, no joke, i would hope that garner would use wandy for only 3 inn, then bring in nieve and bork to take it to the 7th

Why not give Albers or Sampson another shot? If Wandy was sucking before he went to AAA, sucked at AAA, why would he all of a sudden turn it on now?

Hello Astros fans! I 'm a huge NBA and Houston Rockets fan, sow I 'm not familiar with AHL ... but I do know some NHL teams (Anaheim Ducks, for example). Because I 'm from Europe (Belgium) I was wondering what the difference is between those two league 's? Is the AHL something like the D-league of the NBA? Don 't shoot me, if you 're angry with that last sentence ... :D I was just wondering what the difference is and why AHL isn 't so famous in Europe? Thanks ...

There is zero benefit in baseball for tanking a season, it is the one sport where if you suck, it is because you suck !

i was trying the sarcasm route....

i understand there is no benefit to tanking

the way the team has been going, continue to put lidge out there, backe goes down after pitching pretty darn good since coming back, garners inexplicable moves....

i wish there was a light at the end of the tunnel

This should be Nieve or Sampson going tonight ... no way should Wandy be getting the start with his performance in AAA. Prove me wrong Wandy

Wandy went 2-2 with a 6.92 ERA WTF! Thats absolute trash. Id rather see Sampson up here. At least he made a good impression.

The light is there's always a next season. Or you have the Texans and Rockets (hopefully) to look forward to.

Or that all the other teams vying for the WC are sucking too so the playoffs are still a possibility.

Or, despite the loss, the Astros can win today and take the series (which would be a good start to the road trip).

    21 Runs in 26 Innings....that's kind of a lot.

see even though Nieve or Sampson are better pitchers the thing about that is those guys aren't ESTABLISHED players like Wandy.

It's kinda like who did Garner want batting behind Berkman for awhile there? The hottest hitter in the league or the the hitter who has been in the biggest slump for 3 months? To the average fan they'd say the hottest hitter without giving it much thought but to the experienced baseball men like Garner and Purpura, it's the ESTABLISHED player. See, Ensberg, though he was sucking to hell, he was ESTABLISHED, and that's a big thing these days you know. So with Wandy they have to show him some respect because he's an ESTABLISHED player. And that's what it's all about with the Astros, ESTABLISHING yourself.
