Didn’t diaz have 4 hits yesterday? And he’s back on the bench But hey Maldys 0-9 career against Gausman should strike fear into the oppositions heart
Of course he is. He could have been 5 for 5 with 5 HR and he would have been on the bench today. This team has 7 starters and 3 guys rotating thru LF and CF. One good game is not going to change that. I do think it will help him get 3 starts instead if 1 or 2 next week though.
Didn’t diaz have 4 hits yesterday? And he’s back on the bench But one hit for Julks (but HR!!) earns him more playing time.
Not sure if McCormick is hurt, is the 4th OF now, or Dusty realized that Gausman is a really bad matchup for him.
You have to put yourself in Dusty's shoes where the numbers don't get deeper than what's on the back of a baseball card, momentum/hot hand is extremely real, and odd fluky splits are as good as gospel. If you can do that (drugs might help), then you will understand.
I'd say a big part of catching is having the ump call pitches in the zone that aren't middle-middle strikes more than 85% of the time.
Dusty will need a PR firm soon to help him with talking points on why Maldy should get more starts than Diaz.
Playing a guy because you believe in "hot" hitters based on a good day is very anti-analytics and very Bagwellian.
He’s actually the one manager out there who won’t give into BS media pressure… not that Houston has any hard hitting media members who would truly cause any of this cities coaches or managers to squirm.
