You mean...during the midseason portion? A sub 3 era doesn't exactly point to him having trouble for anything more than a small part of the season.

Here's the part where the A's remember who they're playing. The defending World Series Champions don't just run away and hide...cowering in fear like so many of you really seem to want to believe is happening.

 

Today - 4 runs
Mariners - 6 runs
Tigers - 6 runs (5 er)
Rays - 5 runs.

 

Tampa start was in June and was followed up with 2 pretty good starts (13 IP, 2 ER)...then the Tigers game...followed up by 3 really good starts (18.2 iP/3 ER)...followed up by a 11k game against CO (2 ER)...and now these 2. So, yeah...he's in a bit of a midseason funk in August. ERA is still sub 3 and WHIP is still sub 1. If it weren't for the record (which is silly these days), he's winning another Cy Young.

Agreed. Still a top 5 performer for the season though.

 

Gattis has been hitting a ton of home runs but mostly he's been all or nothing.
Hope we can hang on and give JV #200. Wish he got 200 at home, but oh well. It's long overdue.

Unpopular opinion, but I'd take Gattis out instead. See my post above. Reminds me of Chris Carter 2015 honestly.
