Disagree that one hit given up by a player determines whether he's good or bad this year (Sipp). Or that McHugh giving up a run in 3 of his last 16 appearances (2 of those 3 were 2-inning appearances) -- and that's the worst of his season -- means he's "average". The team has scuffled, and there have been issues... but I don't think you have to dump those guys suddenly. Nor do I think if they were pitching perfectly, the losing would have been winning.

The only person that truly blew it was Rondon. Apparently Hinch needs to inspire him to not throw meatballs during 1 run save situations.

Teams need to win games 3-2 or 2-1 sometimes. Especially against good teams. They're not going to win every game 12-1.

That’s kind of the point though. Protocol is that on a play that close, initial call wins out. Nothing “indisputable” about any of the angles I’ve seen.

No... the protocol is that if they have multiple angles that are synced up and show his hand touching the plate before the tag on the upper chest was made, the runner is safe.

The point is also that you, nor I, nor AT&T (initially) sees the same synced angles that MLB has access to. The angle they showed after the inning was already over was different than any of the ones they showed in the review... I can only imagine this was one of the MLB-accessible ones that are separate from team's broadcast cameras.

Rewatching the 9th this morning, also could be noted that if Reddick is not shifted way the hell over into RCF he fields a single on 1 or 2 hops and Laureano does not even attempt to score.

"Our manager needs to inspire our players"

lol these are grown men coming off a World Series run. What more inspiration do they really need.

Look, I get that the call was close, and I know some say that it looks like the tag may have been just late, but the thing is, nowhere do I see "clear and convincing" evidence. That's what's needed to overturn. Ugh. We better win these next two, we have a tough road ahead. And ugh, TBH I prefer SEA gets the WC spot because of their loooooong playoff drought. Sorry, just venting.

The tag got there late. Its pretty clear. Very close but safe. Hand got in there. Perhaps if Maldonado had swept the tag upward, he woulda got the runners arm or shoulder before the hand got there. He stuck his hand out for the tag but had to wait for his rib cage to arrive. Hand was already there. It sucks but he was safe. We lost the game in the 5th inning with the errors. Team playing like garbage right now. Need to get these next two.

Get over last night. The call sucked. Whatever. We can bounce back and be fine. OAK is good. We're better. We can't have sloppy defensive innings. That call isn't why we lost the game. We have to play better defense and our lineup needs a jolt. I'd like to see Kemp get the start tonight, even with how big LF is at the Coliseum. I'm surprised we haven't put Kemp as 2B since Tuve's injury.

The play appeared to be a tie. So, he's safe.

I hope Rondon stays solid when he's pitching 8th's.

Let's score more than 3 tonight.

The reality of the situation is that the Astros are not as good as the A's. I'm getting so tired of all "experts" on the radio saying how we're gonna win the division based on the fact that we have the better team. I like to base my decisions by what I see on the field and not by what's on paper like most the Houston media does. The A's are 39-13 since mid June, and the Astros are around .500. It's time to face the fact that this Astros team is broken, and to be honest they've looked nowhere near the team of last year even though the records are similar. Sorry, but that's the truth. I'm no bandwagon fan, I'm just keeping it real. Hopefully we can hold off Seattle for that last wild card spot, I'm afraid that's our only hope.

The A's are young and confident while our guys are still looking to re-find our mojo.

Oakland is definitively a better team than us.

This has nothing to do with Altuve being out ! None of our guys are hitting, Keuchel is good one game and crap another, Where’s Yuli?, bad news bears errors in the field ! They just aren’t the same team right now

At this point in the season, sure. Go back to June and they were not. Overall, these teams may have identical records after today.
