Altuve/Springer/Correa all slumping makes it tough to win

 

Would've made plenty of sense to give him more starting chances this season, but you're probably right long-term.

It's a tough call. This is his 8th game (most in high leverage situations) this month. As a starter, he'd have 3 or 4.

 

Pitchers have caught on. The slide step, even a slight one, is a neutralizer as long as you have a competent catcher.

 

OK, the A's 2B (or SS?) is essentially blocking the bag on tag plays at 2B. He's setting up 2 feet in front and daring the runner to slide into or around him. Marwin b!tched about it, Altuve just b!tched about it. The next guy needs to go in hard with spikes, he'll stop that stuff post-haste.

 

They walked off on us in dramatic fashion already once this season it better not happen again

I'm saying he doesn't have the arm or the repertoire to be a starter now. His 90mph fastball + change combo looks a hell of a lot better when its a 95mph fastball + change. If he can get his breaking ball to be anything other than "show me" stuff...?
