The team also needs to start assessing the closer spot. Harris shouldn't be seen as THE answer. He's great in set up roles/late innings but I don't think he is the answer at closer. If Giles can't get his act together they need to start seeing what needs to be done for that spot some how some way.
It's frustrating seeing Rangers fall apart and us not make up additional ground. The Sale game and now 2-4 in last 6 against the A's. Team can't have a prolonged slump because schedule gets much tougher in August/Sept.
No great angles but. . . Spoiler <iframe src='http://m.mlb.com/shared/video/embed/embed.html?content_id=947852183&topic_id=7417714&width=853&height=480&property=mlb' width='853' height='480' frameborder='0'>Your browser does not support iframes.</iframe>
Frustrating series to say the least. Hinch leaving Keuchel in there too long, bullpen blows it, Correa's gaffe, etc. Tough loss to swallow right now. Lineup could definitely use some changes. Hoping we don't have to look back on this game at the end of the season.
Root Sports had a very good shot from the 3rd base side. I'm not tech savvy or I'd screenshot it. Someone record the replay and post it.
nothing a seven game winning streak can't fix. i hate oakland. when they do their little shake, i feel like summoning draymond green and kicking them.
fell asleep early and saw that we lost the game. heard it was hinch fault. god i hate that idiot. you dont know how bad I hate him
Why does Hinch let Kuechel throw over 110 pitches? Everytime Hinch does this Kuecel ends up getting lit up and it affects his next couple of starts. Memo to Hinch, This years Kuechel isn't last yrs Kuechel, Kuechel is a 6-7 inning pitcher and thinking he's more than that will result in more of these kinds of losses happening. I'm begining to get on board with trading for Chapman so Hinch can use him as the closer this year, with the idea of re-signing him and making him a starter next yr. Wonder what the cost would be? And for the love of God please bring Bregman up, this lineup really needs him. I blame Luhnow for this bad stretch almost as much as Hinch.
Gawd we can't beat these fuking assholes. Swear to jesus, I couldn't go back to sleep after checking the score around 5am and being pissed off about it.
Please list off the managers that would pull a reigning Cy Young winner working on a 3 hit shutout after 6 innings and less than 100 pitches. Thanks.
I had a feeling we were going to lose the game last night. You could just tell. I turned it off mid-ninth before the bottom of the inning started with the thinking that we would lose the game. And, we did.
The reason why you have Giles in the bullpen is so he can help out the starters and get the outs. That's his job. If he gets those two outs without the RBI double, we're looking at a 3-0 game. You say Hinch should have trusted his bullpen more and taken DK out. Well, that bullpen failed him anyway. That game was going to be a loss whether even if Dallas was pulled 1/3 inning earlier.
Anyway, the recipe for frustrating our pitchers is pretty clear: take, take, take. The A's are really good at this (or seem to be vs. us at least), and we end up killing ourselves with walks. And pitching focus with 2 outs and no one on is something that needs to be addressed. I've lost count how many innings have seemingly careened out of control after two quick outs.
Giles came on with a runner on 2nd and 3rd. Those were Keuchels runs. Nobody was warming up the inning prior, Keuchel went into that inning thinking he was going to get out of it & when **** started rumbling you see Giles barely starting to warm up. Hinch really does not know what he is doing out there most of the time. Reminds me of McHale. His superstars do the work to whatever amount they can but when you have to make crucial decisions, he freezes.
The reason teams value closers is that they're supposed to be able to get saves when the game is on the line... especially in 1 run games. Plenty of blame to go around. Technically, Giles did protect the lead... but yeah, would have been nice if he got out of the pickle that Keuchel put him in. And in the end, the lineup should have been able to score more than 3 runs off their starter... they had tons of hits, but couldn't do much with them.
