Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess). 9-5 Brad Peacock, RHP vs. Sonny Gray, RHP 9:05 9-6 Dallas Keuchel, LHP vs. A.J. Griffin, RHP (;05 9-7 Brett Oberholtzer, LHP vs. Dan Straily, RHP 3:05 9-8 Paul Clemens, RHP vs. Bartolo Colon, RHP 3:05
Great question. I tried to go over Baseball Reference to find the answer for this and some basic searches on google and had no luck. I would be curious to know.
He's been picked off 8 times. Best article I see is that the most by 2 teammates since 1987 when tracking POs began is 11. Good chance Altuve has the record.
That was apparently number 4. I assume this had not yet been updated: http://stats.washingtonpost.com/mlb/getleaders.asp?rank=022 I have been harping about Altuve's base running blunders for a while now. He has made many more mistakes than Villar, yet Villar gets pulled for trying to stretch a single into a double. Perhaps Porter takes care of this sort of stuff behind closed doors, but he publicly called out Villar.

I see where we both have the same numbers. He was picked off officially (going back to the base) 4 times and "picked off caught stealing" (going forward to a base) 3 times for the 7 that baseball reference has. Regardless, it is a ridiculously high number.
Yeah, took me a while to find it. You can't choose those stats in their event finder though. Here's something else though. The article I read said Jose Reyes had 7 POs last year, but BR shows 13. Even if you back out the POCS, you'd still have 10. So, who knows. All that really matters is Altuve makes way too many outs on the base paths. Even with his SB%, he's been very lucky, IMO. Frequently gets bailed out by bad throws from the catcher.
This really is what it seems like it comes down to it seems like: luck. There are the Michael Bourns of the world that can steal on just about anyone, but the Altuves need to either take advantage of mistakes, slow deliveries, or poor catching. That is totally acceptable, but I feel like he takes too many chances that he shouldn't be taking. I wonder if that is something that we will see improve over time, because it is important to keep in mind he is just 23 and has off seasons to learn and improve.
Agree with this completely. If we were contenders his mental mistakes would be an issue. As a 23 year old on this team, I see a lot of potential and hope his mental game takes off eventually
One thing that is undeniable is that our bullpen is dependable. (they can be depended on to give up runs).
