It's officially over. Richard Justice thinks the Astros are going to start making their comeback now. :(

"[Ensberg]'s struggling," Garner said. "At least he's walking [10 walks in 10 games], so if he gets on base ... Let him walk and Berkman or Burke comes up."

Ensberg is only part of Garner's recent maneuvering.

"A lot of the times I just know what I want to do, and then when we're not winning, we're not on a roll, then I try to change it," Garner said. "Sometimes I look at stats. In '04 I went to the classic way of doing it where you put your best on-base guys ahead of your best guys with your OPS. It should work, but it flat did not work.

"Then when I moved [Carlos] Beltran at No. 2 instead of No. 3, all of a sudden it took of. He was more comfortable in the two hole and he did much better, Berkman took off, Ensberg took off."

Shifting is not so much about who is opposing the Astros on the mound on a certain day as it is about Houston hitters.

"Sometimes it just clicks. If you start seeing the signs, I won't tinker with the lineup. I'd just as soon not," Garner said. "I'd [like] to put the same lineup out there every day, but you gotta see the signs. Even if they're struggling, if you see signs, I see them swinging the bat the right way, even if we're not getting it done, then I don't tinker with it because I know it's going to happen. But when we're not swinging the bats the right way, I don't see evidence that it's going to change so I'm going to try to do something to help it."

My super power will over come his crappy ones. It ain't over til the fat b*tch sings and she ain't warmed up yet. If you want to throw in the towel I can't change your mind. But I will NEVER give up on this season. It's way too soon and we haven't even seen what Backe's bringing to the plate this season. Don't give up just yet, then you will look like a fool when you jump on the bandwagon in the postseason when we are in the playoffs.

I really think he will find the combo we need but it will take time and it's better he takes the time now and not later.

There is a great big giant hole of suck wherever Ensberg bats in the lineup. Stros can't be successful if he doesn't get back on track.

I see this morning that the Astros are making Clemens feel right at home. No run support again. Roger has got to be asking himself, I came back for this? Enjoy the paycheck Roger.

If they had a lineup with more than just 2 good hitters, having one in a slump wouldn't kill you.

He won't be enjoying much of the paycheck seeing as how most of that money is being donated to charity.

Yea...I don't have a lot of faith in this team after the play in recent days. Their just not executing worth a crap on any level. It doesn't do much good if starting pitching is good but, when the bullpen has to come in, they can't do jack squat but give up runs. I still think we will make a push and make the playoffs. This team just seems like a bunch of f***-ups with a couple of over-acheivers right now. But, as soon as we start playing some other teams that are more at our level, then we will be looking pretty good again. Whether that starts this weekend in Texas, who the f knows?

That's not how this team was built, though. Great pitching, defense & adequate offense.

And it's not like they weren't close to a major shakeup this offseason. Damn you, Tejada.

I'd imagine changes to the makup of the team will be made, it will not be easy though. Not for anybody except keyboard GMs.

I was impressed that Garner put him in the 7 spot a few days ago. He needs to stay there until he figures out what he's doing.

Who did Garner just say that is going to play first base today?

    Edit: It's Munson.

The spot he's in today might be a good one for a couple of days.

    Ausmus is worthless right now.

It would be better off to use the DH spot to hit for Ausmus and let Pettitte hit for himself.
