Yeah I hear ya all the evidence just isn't there because you're right this team sucks but we were just coming off a stretch as one of the hottest teams in baseball. Hmmmm, just doesn't make sense! I guess personalities be damned and it's talent or talent that once was that rules out and results shouldn't come in to play.

Bathe in all the smug superiority you want but, sincerely: when you're a mindless broken record who can't engage on a topic, provide any new insight, or/and break away from your Pavlovian responses - even when clearly warranted - you do yourself no favors, in terms of board credibility.

We all watched Giles give up the game-winning hit. We all saw Gomez's helmet fly off his head on a few of his swings and misses. It's just that, most of us (like, not you) saw the *rest* of the game, too, and can provide much greater context and understanding.

Must of us are upset they lost; you seem... happy that they lost - as if being "right" is more important than the team's success. That's also not a good look.

Rasmus has become a big problem. His OPS is down to .699, and while his defense in general has been good, his misplay on Odor's game winner was costly (not saying for sure that he could have caught it if he went for the catch or prevented Beltre from scoring by playing it off the wall, but getting caught in between left no chance).

Poor Reed. Amazing that a couple injury-plagued, down months to start the season this year, following absolutely demolishing all levels prior to that, has reduced his buzz to zero, and fans now view him as a JAG.

Baseball is a "what have you done for me lately?" sport indeed.

agreed. for all the early talk about his new approach early this year and "finally! a chemistry fit"... he's still the same guy. Streaky. Flawed. Best used in a platoon I think.

I wish Jake could stay consistent vs. all pitching and Gomez/Rasmus would platoon LF. Or, if we had consistent production from 1B and our current solid catching platoon, we could take the poor CF production from Marisnick (assuming he doesn't become consistently better) at the bottom of the lineup.

Not saying Rasmus is great or anything, but the position player problems are at 1B, DH (counting Gattis as a catcher), CF, and absolutely every bench player not producing a lick (except Gattis). Not saying these positions will continue to suck...just that they have.

Rasmus and Valbuena have been meh, but should not be looked at in the same light as those guys.

You can easily see that the 'stros are pressing way too much in this series. Everyone is swinging out of their shoes (Gomez literally, but Springer and Rasmus are also trying to kill the ball). Get up there, make contact. We saw what happens when you put the ball in play and make the Rangers make plays.

And I keep hearing people say they wish Jake was more consistent. Seems he is consistent. Consistently not making contact. Great fielder without a doubt. Runs well. But we need some production from the outfield position. If every other spot was hitting we could carry a .180 hitting defensive specialist as one might carry a SS. We could even view him as a NL pitcher hitting ninth. But with other hitting positions struggling, we need him to produce.

He had a good first 4-6 weeks last year iirc, and he's been hitting fairly well over the last 2 weeks. There is something there. I don't expect him to be that above-average hitter he is when he's hot.. but there is still a possibility he can hit .250 have an average OBP to go with his speed.

We do need more out of White (or his replacement), but the outfield outside of Springer is really weak offensively. Rasmus will get hot again (he did just miss 2 monster HRs off Lewis and a 3rd off their closer that wasn't fould by a ton), but it is a concern. He can't be our cleanup guy right now. Only Gomez has a worse OPS/SLG of our regulars.

I'm looking forward to seeing Keuchel get back to his dominating ways tonight, and watching the Astros dismantle Hamels early.

*please let this unwarranted arrogance slide just this once, oh mighty Baseball Gods

If the 1B and DH (taking Gattis as a catcher) were improved, Rasmus wouldn't be batting 4th. I'd improve the bats at positions that require less defensive skill first before looking at a guy that plays defense. Gomez should also be batting before him, but has sucked. Rasmus is fine as a number 7 hitter. It is not his fault he's batting cleanup.

Springer is the DH tonight. Anyone got numbers on how he hits as a DH? Because just from memory, I think he has been poor when DH. I wonder if some people are just not cut out for that role?

On average, people perform worse as a DH by about 14 points in weighted OBA.

    I hope it is true

And hope it causes bad blood to spill over

Not into a fight, but some kind of altercation

They are plenty fiery, we need something to light a fire under us in this series

No, we need an actual fight. Every antic and celebration from the last two years should be plastered all over the clubhouse. It's time to stop trying to take the high road, and get righteous Pulp Fiction style on the Rangers.

IDK...I think it's foolish to say stuff like this when you are repeatedly getting your asses handed to you by the other squad.

It's kinda like the guy playing pickup ball who has all the gear, has all the moves in warmups, runs his mouth non-stop, but then goes out and completely sucks when the game starts.

Win a damn game. Until then, keep your mouth shut. You can't talk until they earn the right to talk, and this season....they have no right to say anything yet.
