let’s bench our hottest bat just 2 games into the season. And bat Goodrum 3rd for good measure. dusty in full form
That’s not this year. I already predicted 98 wins and an easy waltz to the division title. To be fair though this team did win 102, 104 and 109 games in 17-19. So, being predicted to win 89 by Vegas and having nobody pick us to win the WS and 47% of the yahoos on the Athletic pick the M’s to win the division is sort of the definition of slow decay. We didn’t win the WS when we had one of the 3 best teams I’ve ever seen, so we might win 87 and win it all this year.
Jesus christ with that lineup. Dusty is in midseason form. Yuli will be back in a few days, Bregman can battle through 4 straight games
Who tees off against Syndergaard tonight? Just remember, a replacement level switch hitter (I'm too generous - 88 OPS+) is better batting third than a good batter. Dusty is in love with lefty righty switch hitter lineup setup and would rather have that look good than having good batters get the most bats. But this is not new. It is DUSTY.
Get used to this for a couple of weeks. They announced a week ago that they were going to treat the first few weeks of the season like Spring training in regards to rest days for players. Dusty said Thursday that Bregman was resting today. The only thing that hasn't been said previous to the last couple of games was Yuli going on paternity leave. These rest days are most likely from the front office more so than Dusty just making up lineups.
I’m completely fine with regularly scheduled off days…it’s early April for Christ sake…do not mind the Bregman rest…I do mind Goodrum batting 3rd. Ummmmm WHAT?
What were those choices? To hold onto the money and let the franchise decay further? If he had made the proper moves the Stros would probably have another ring. When you get a shot at a ring you should do everything possible to give you're team its best shot at winning a championship. Click didn't do that last yr. He hasn't done anything so far this yr. You mentioned thinning out of the farm system, although I would put the Stros top 5-6 prospects against anybody's, it's true the farm system is thinner due to having to trade prospects to fill the bullpen holes that were created by signings like Baez, who is a big part of the reason that money is so tight.
I agree with you conceptually but I think it goes too far to blame him for not having another ring. The playoffs are such a crapshoot that anything can and does happen. I’d still rather hit on 12 against a 2 and double down on 10 and 11 when the dealer shows weakness, but there is no guarantees in a 7 game series….
