Totally. Like I said in the other thread, this GOLDEN ERA has been as special as any other era of any other Houston sports team…. And may not happen again in any of our lifetimes once this current core runs its course.

It may NEVER happen again. Yellowstone could erupt and take us all out.

Yeah.... the guy died at like 35 from consumption... a different world back then.

I did find a close up of his left hand though....

Can we pencil in Scrubb for the start? Would be thrilled to see a Scrubb v. Junk matchup.

Bold strategy protecting Correa with Castro. Let's see how it works out.

I like Jake and Chas behind Altuve though.

Without a doubt, the fastest line-up and it doesn't even include Seri. Altuve may get runners on with speed to draw the pitcher's attention.

And this is the same argument I was having back then. He was 30 to 50 points below the average hitter and that's all people would remember. His outstanding defense remains unappreciated.

    WAR
    2003 2.3
    2004 3.2
    2005 2.9
    2006 3.5

Nobody remembers THIS. Just the BA.

For comparison, Yordan Alvarez has a 3.0 WAR this season.

BTW - I had to use my own metrics, not for bias, but because modern defensive metrics were either non-existent or not readily available like the are now. My metric was as simple as adding hits saved above average to his offensive hit total. A hit's a hit, whether saved or made.

Nobody remembers defensive catchers either. Unless you slam into a wall or another player, great defensive plays and players get forgotten pretty quick.

But 2021 has changed that, a bit. Somehow Correa has made defense flashy and entertaining, at least locally. Surely not by himself, but he has helped make defense more fun to watch more broadly as well.

The really annoying part of this is guys who truly were great offensively, but were actual liabilities defensively, get the later overlooked. And these same guys get compared to those who were great at both in the same light. As equals really.

Not sure why you used the word nobody. Every Astro fan I personally know, realizes how good his defense and intelligence was

Sorry if I forgetting something but why no Tucker in the OF? I still remember him crashing into a wall a week ago? Trying to protect him?

And you just described Derek Jeter who even won Gold Gloves while being a tremendous defensive liability.

    2004 GG -0.3 dWAR
    2005 GG -1.8 dWAR
    2006 GG -0.7 dWAR
    2009 GG 1.1 dWAR
    2010 GG 0.0 dWAR

Shoulder soreness. It effects his throwing, but not his hitting.
