Yeah I'm with you. The Mets broadcast is pretty good. I don't particularly like the Rockets home broadcast outside of nostalgic value so I'm def not a homer on that front
Going in, if we knew the series would split.. I'd rather win the nationally televised game because it showcases our skills more blatantly. Championships are blatant too, so let's continue blatantly.
Does Ohtani have some beef with the Astros? Between yesterday’s stupid stare down and these antics...I don’t know what to think. I want to cheer for him as a player but he’s acting childish
Lenny Dykstra, Wally Backman, Fred F'ing Brocklander, Ray Knight, Sid, Doc, Orosco, Strawberry, "I'm Keith Hernandez", etc....**** all of the Mets and everything about them '86 still hurts
They do things a little differently in Japan, I wouldn't read too much into it. youtube some of their celebrations eta:
Ohtani is becoming one of my least favorite players in MLB. The others are whole Dodgers lineup. What they have in common? Bunch of b****es and whiny ass mofo. I can’t wait for Ohtani to get hurt again. And for Angel to give him 300M contract so they can get stuck with his fake ass tough eek eek eek Japanese p*rn ****.
I swear baseball players and fans are the most sensitive people in sports. A bunch of snowflakes. In basketball we have laying each other out with elbows and putting their nuts in people faces and we celebrate it.
Yup. I still remember listening to the final game on my Walkman. Can’t remember why I could not watch, but It was an absolute killer. That series will always sting big time.
The umpire union stands behind their guys mainly because of how high their normal percentage of "correct" calls are. They've always been against any sort of electronic zone but they do acknowledge that it will likely happen at some point once the technology has fully been perfected/vetted at the lower levels. If more data such as this gets out there, or people start tracking (in earnest) and posting overall umpire statistics on a regular basis, they're not going to be able to hide behind "union" forever. They know which umpires are better than others. Hernandez thought it was racism that kept him from calling big games, and they accommodated him to avoid making it a bigger deal... but the reality is, he's proven he's not a great game caller. What annoys me the most is that these umpires do get older... with slower reflexes, worse eyes, worse stamina (its hot in the summer with all that gear on), and yet they somehow are granted a job for life at ages that most people would be slowing down/retiring... not working full time in demanding/physical jobs that requires all facilities to be in tip top shape.
