Care to look at how the bullpen has done this month when including inherited runners? b****ing about whatever happens in a given day and blaming it for the entire month's struggles is just b****ing for the sake of b****ing.
People like to b**** #onhere regardless of the circumstances. Fact of the matter is that the bullpen had been extremely good until last night when guys who won't be pitching late in games in the postseason were on the mound.
We actually don't know who for sure is going to be the post-season go-to guys, other than Giles right now. At the beginning of the year, Devenski was looked at as the one who should be closer, and the ultimate weapon of all weapons. Then, Harris took over as being Mr. Reilable. Currently, Musgrove appears to be the one who could take the 8th inning job and run away with it. That leaves Martes, Clippard, Gregerson, and Harris (when he returns) to all be able to be used inter-changably as possible late-inning options. In a 6-1 game, with both Devo and Musgrove unavailable... and Giles still nursing a sore neck... there was plenty of flexibility to try what they tried. The bullpen situation is far from dire. Giles being as rock-solid as he's ever been as an Astro certainly helps provide some of that consistency.
House flooded, Astros limp-dicked defeat from victory, the Texans did what the Texans do. Why am I even watching this today? Brain's too fried for any higher level of entertainment. Well, no J.D. Davis **** today at least. If Morton's pitching well, let him pitch until the cows come home.
Bullpen ranked 17th. This is after the "great" month they just had. 4.18 ERA on the season. The top 4 ranked bullpens in baseball are boston, cleveland, dodgers, yankees. We are 17th. This will most likely be an issue in the playoffs. Stop being so stubborn.
Jose Altuve, you can count on him. You can count on him even more than you can count a reporter to ask an inappropriate question to a flood victim. And seriously Josh, this isn't little league.
