carter bats .220 strikeouts a ton..castro is good prospect who can fetch more players to build the minor leagues..thank god some you don't run the Astros. smh
I'm sure this has been said to you ad nauseum, but there's really no reason to trade Castro. There's no realistic crop of prospects we could receive in return that would justify giving up a catcher who's tapping into his offensive potential and is under team control until 2018.
Ambriz is 2 for 2 as a closer. He is 17th in all of baseball in holds. He has 8 straight scoreless outings. Why, exactly is he garbage?
0.00 in his last 8 games. Take away one bad game in May and his ERA was less than 1.00 for the month. That's pretty good for a set up guy.
I don't really care much for Ambriz. I hope that someone like Jason Stoffel or Josh Zeid replaces him by the 2nd half of the season. However, I think he's been passable to this point despite his struggles early. Maybe, maybe he could fetch a middle-of-the-road prospect at the deadline. Now... I have absolutely no idea why Jeff Luhnow ever bothered to reclaim Edgar Gonzalez from the Blue Jays.

So, even though he has had a very good run over the past month, you still consider him "garbage"? There is a difference in wanting to see the younger guys (I assume that is who you mean and nothing wrong with that sentiment) and unequivocally saying someone is garbage when their performance hasn't shown that.
Stoffel really is deserving of his major league cup of tea pretty soon. He's definitely more than a AAAA guy - he was drafted in the 4th round and made the Giants top prospects list in 2009 and 2010. His control and composure were called into question in their organization, but with our organization his numbers have steadily gotten better. He's only 24 now, whereas Ambriz is 29. So I'm on board the Stoffel train. Would much rather see him getting some Ambriz innings.
Oh... almost forgot. Ronny Cedeño is probably lucky that Jonathan Villar hit the wall to end May. Otherwise, he'd have been released.

Castro is a keeper. Dominguez appears to be at the least a solid big league 3B, he's not a great option, but you can move forward with him at third and choose to address other needs. He's under team control until 2018. Altuve, Martinez, and Carter have all shown flashes, have to let the full season play out with them. The pitching has been the real reason for this recent winning. Jordan Lyles with the exception of one clunker has been great this year. Showing real signs of having figured it out, if so he's obviously a long term option. Bud Norris could be a trade option, depends on the market. He showing signs of being a middle to top of the rotation guy, you don't just give those away. You don't trade proven young MLB players when you are so close to your contending window. You do it to kickstart a rebuild which we have already done. Most prospects don't pan out so to perpetually trade for them leads you to being the Pirates
Trade Castro?? Smh....what could we possibly gain from that? First of all, you have to take in account that other teams see what we see, a guy whose struggled for a while, and finally is putting something together. What team is willing to throw good prospects our way for that? You better get solid prospects or that trade would be a complete waste. Castro is valuable not only as a potential starter for this team, but to the pitching staff as a whole. I'm just finding a really....hard time understanding what could possibly be the reason for trading for Castro. No one would give us anything but another gamble, while Castro is finally showing signs of turning things around, and is hitting with average and power. He's not 35. Keep him....
As for Amrbiz, he's done a great job of being a filler in the bullpen. Not only has he been better as of late, he's buying time for any young prospects we may decide are a better fit for the bullpen in the future than a starter.
Yea it didn't take long for a lot of fans to turn into "trade em" guys anytime someone looks to have some value. Sheesh, Castro and Altuve should be the last two guys we would want to move at this point. I will admit I wasn't sold on Castro to begin the season, but if you look he struggled at every level when he first got there and eventually figured it out and hit. To me those two are the best bets we have for position players currently on the roster. I do think Dominguez, Carter and JD could be players on a good team, but they would need to be the worst three on the team probably
