The guy has pitched 1 inning of mop up duty (9-1 loss) in the majors. There's no way they're giving him the ball with a 1 run lead.
Garner could have... and if McLemore gives up a bomb, the MMQB's critcize Garner for taking out a proven pitcher (Qualls) for a rookie. As it was, Miller did his job... something this team needs more of if they're going to get back in this thing (in the mean time, Qualls and Wheeler could start getting back to doing their job as well).
Gots to play add-on... there's no way I'm going to be 100% confident in Lidge again till I see it in the 9th inning.
Miller's off and on. There is no such thing as a typical Miller year. So you can't look at last year and say he "clicked" and expect him to "click" again this year. The year before last he had a .278 BAA and a 1.67 WHIP. But the year before that one was pretty good. He's not consistent enough from year to year where you can expect him to "click" and pitch like he did last year.
Well, now what do they do? Even his trade value will be hurt by this... there is absolutely no positives... none.
I doubt "snakebit" is a way to describe a guy who fails to execute his best pitch in an 0-2 count (after looking unhittable with it for the past month and a half). More like "up the creek without a paddle"... just inexcusable.
