Roy faces a team that hasn't played against the Astros in 2002 (and likely focuses big-time on the recent scouting reports)... thus he goes back to "vintage" fastball-curveball Roy that gets loads of strikeouts, circa 2001-04. (then again, this didn't work too well in game 3 of the World Series)
It was almost as though whoever was controlling what camera is being shown preferred showing that and had to switch over to the pitch every time one was thrown, and then would go right back to Hot Dog Cam. Bizarre.
The Brewers would manage to prove my theory wrong. Apparently it is: Good Pitching + Decent Offense = No Hitter.
You could always be like me and have to watch the games on GameCast because you live in GA and only get Braves games.
Houston fans doing the "wave" at a very important part of this game... classic (and dissapointing). As was Qualls performance...
Bringing in Miller? The goal is to win game, Mr. Garner. Please stop using Miller. EDIT: I take it back...for tonight only.
If Qualls had done his job, Miller wouldn't have been neccessary. Garner brings him in to face lefties who have RBI situations... I'm not crazy about it, but neither Qualls (nor anybody else) on this team has inspired much confidence to be in that situation this year. Also, eventually Miller's stuff will "click"... as it did last year. Its frustrating when it doesn't, but I don't think last year was a "fluke" and he's completely lost it.
Lidge is in line for his first save opportunity... unless the offense blows it open, or Wheeler suffers another meltdown. Either way... there will be something to talk about.
But he had "clicked" by this point last year. His only REAL bad month was April. He had a 2.79 ERA in May, and a 2.08 ERA in June.
Why not give McLemore a shot to do it? Miller has been nothing short of terrible lately. Maybe it's over use. Maybe it's because he just isn't a very good pitcher. You brought the kid up...let him pitch. I'd rather see them go down trying something new instead of going back to what doesn't work.
So, you think he "unclicked" that badly in less than one year? I think he suffers from some of what the rest of the bullpen suffers from... not getting in enough games consistently where they're in a familiar situation (protecting a lead).
