So should we kick out Chris Webber, Alonzo and A.Davis (all players who refused to report initially)? Heck, Davis even went into the stands too.
I don't know if you're just kidding, but there is no such thing as a no-trade clause in the NBA. Except NBA players know what they're getting into when the sign with a team. They know getting traded is part of the business. I have nothing against players trying to use impending free agency and other things to try to leverage a trade, but bottom line is they technically should have no say in where they get traded. It's in their contracts. Artest had made more than just one big "boo boo." The guy has been a headcase since he came into the league, and the Pacers have been about as accomodating as a team can get. Claiming that they deliberately tried to "piss him off" by trading him to the west coast is absolutely ludicrous. When you're trying to win, why on earth would you trade him within the conference?
My head is spinning from your take on all this. Do you really believe what you're saying? How the hell can you blame Indiana for trying to discipline someone who (1) signed a contract promising to fulfill certain obligations but (2) turned around and both consciously refused to meet those obligations and also (3) consistently acted in a manner that rendered him unable to meet those obligations? Indiana should have taken him to arbitration (I imagine both parties waive right to trial in the contract) and asked to have the contract terminated for breach. At some point, these problem players need to learn that their teams ARE the boss. So if they act like dip****s, the boss is going to discipline them. Indiana never attempted to do anything to Artest that was unfair - he was the one who broke the contract and he is the one who now deserves to have the same contract torn up in arbitration and be banned from the league.
Be nice if we could just pop Aderal into his mouth and all his problems would go away while he only focuses on BASKETBALL. Would be nice to have those skills with Yao and TMAC and Skip.
I think the key is whether Artest wants to play for us or not. If not, of course we won't deal for him. Otherwise, if he wants to play for us, we shouldn't pass him up.
That's not true. There is such thing as a no-trade clause, but it's very rare, because you have to be a veteran (least 8 years in the league I think), and have spent at least 4 years on your current team. Kobe has one.
No No and No. I have no doubt he'd help us win some ball games, but he's also just as likely to abandon the team for reasons inexplicable to anyone but himself. It's funny, I don't really care about Ron's "brawling" type offenses - at least that means he's got some spirit. But when he criticizes his coach and teammates publically and asks for a month off during the season to promote a rap album - that's when I say "no thanks." Anyone who can't understand (or won't) how this behavior hurts his team has no place on the Rockets.
Dicipline them? like how? only thing they can really do is limit their playing time(the dog house) or trade them and make it someone else's problem.. They signed a contract and that contract comes with all the intangibles, including someone's personality. And as I've said before, if the Pacers weren't all open arms to him SOMEONE else would have. THAT MUCH is a fact. Thats why they kept him around even if things dont work out(they still have a trading card).. Like a pathetic guy tending to all of his girl's needs like a slave because he's so whooped.. And he knows theres plenty of suitors out there just waiting for their chance at their dibs. SAME THING... happens everyday.. so who's boss? obviously the ball is in artest's court and that's just how it is..
What makes you think Ron would want to play here? The Kings deal went dead for a reason. Before today, I entertained the idea of having Artest here, but now I'm standing firm with an absolute no. He's the epitome of "knucklehead."
Guys, don't you understand? He does NOT want to play anywhere but the east coast. He won't accept a trade here or anywhere else besides NYC or Nets or some other team nearby.
I reluctantly supported having him on the team because of our terrible situation but now with this latest episode I don't want him on the Rockets.
F*ck him. F*ck him. F*ck him. He goes back and forth more often than Anne Heche; seems a little schizophrenic along with being psychotic.
