I am ready to flush yesterday down the toilet after the Astros and Texans both lose................It`s a new day so lets take the first one and get the Division, let's not f*** around and go out and TAKE it. As Yordan was sliding I was yelling NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, but it's a natural instinct so you can't blame the guy, it's a natural baseball play but DAM, I would rather have the single and a healthy Yordan
Steve Sparks just said on 790 that Astros dodged a bullet with the Alverez injury and he's going to be okay.
I don't believe it until he actually sees his first at bat. I have seen too many last minute lineup changes.
Win one game against Seattle and let Yordan rest until the postseason and start that healthy is a much better outcome than many alternatives.
Was he safe at least? Yea...he should be banned from sliding...even if he is tagged out. He's too valuable and he isn't built for it.
It was actually one of his better slides. Given his knee issues, I honestly think going head first would be a better option.
Safe but not sorry "Better slides" is relative. His slides usually look awkward... it's a plop (if that's a word). He needs more coaching. Head-first opens the hand injury door, but maybe that's the lesser of two evils.
I'm thinking this reduces or eliminates Yordan's usage in LF in the post season. Gamel is out. Hopefully Chas swings a bat today, and can return in time to get his timing back. Whitcomb has been forgotten about, since Bregman has been playing 3rd everyday again, and Tucker is back. If Yordan has to DH, then either Caratini or Singleton are on the bench and a weaker hitter is in LF. If Yordan is out . . . Yikes !!
