. Their offense isn't going anywhere but fortunately for us, our pitching can neutralize offense. Their biggest weakness is the bullpen which is the easiest to supplement at the trade deadline. They are going to be tough and I would prefer not to play a wildcard.
Unfortunately this is true. But the recent Astros have always found a way. They have the more well rounded team, an easier schedule, and the experience. It won't be easy but I would still bet on the Astros especially if Brantley and either McCullers or Urquidy are healthy before September. (or replacements are brought in).
I think last night makes our record something stupid, like 60-13, with Pena batting second (including the playoffs) I might be off by a game or two, but damn
I'll never understand why most people were adamant about batting him anywhere else. A healthy Brantley looks great on paper being the high OBP guy that he is, but it's clear our entire lineup is at its absolute best with Pena in the 2-hole. If (I know, a big IF) Brantley ever does come back, slide him in at the 7-hole and let him go to work. His maturity at the plate would allow him to be effective there, whereas Pena needs Yordan protecting him.
What I'd like to see: 1. L Tucker 452 OBP 2. R Bregman 385 OBP [maybe swap Bregman and Altuve] 3. L Alvarez 166 OPS+ 4. R Altuve 144 OPS+ 5. R Pena 435 SLG 6. R McCormick 433 SLG 7. L Brantley (370 2022 OBP) 8. R Abreu (351 career OBP) 9. R Diaz 254 OBP What I expect to see: 1. R Altuve 2. R Pena 3. L Alvarez 4. R Bregman 5. L Tucker 6. R Abreu 7. R McCormick 8. R Meyers 9. R Maldonado
Did jp france get sent back down to make room for blanco? Id rather do a 6 man starting rotation and keep france goin
A game against a lefty is the perfect day to give Tucker off, we have much better options to replace him. I'm not sure if that was planned or just happened to work out that way (probably the latter), either way it's a good usage of a rest day. I get that they want to ease Altuve back in, but he just had a day off Wednesday. Seems odd to give 2 days off this close together.
I was adamant about hitting him lower specifically because of this. His low OBP vs Brantley or Bregman's high OBP was obvious to me. Also it moves Tucker up 1 more spot in the lineup. I have now seen enough. I'm converted.
