That's why I hate the slogan "Let the kids play." This is grown man's game. Let 'em play. - Berkman

If he stays on the line or goes outside then he is safe but he goes inside towards the catcher and collides with him so I can see why they called him out

I've only complained about atrocious umps twice this year and it was early on in the season. Make it three times now. Horrible overturn

They are trying to cut down on collisions so they expect the runners to hurdle, run around the catcher, etc. Think that was an unavoidable collision though.

Jake should have gone to the third base side of home plate. Where was Altuve?!

Watching it on the Angels broadcast you can see that hes clearly inside the line of the playing field. You can not deviate even for a slight second into the playing field when you make contact with the catcher.

Hate to say it but it was the right call. You guys must be seeing a different angle.

Guess he should have done one of those outside slides while sweeping his arm on the plate.

I think it was a bang bang decision by both Lucroy and Jake. Both darted in the same direction at basically the same time. I just don’t know how you avoid that other than telling Jake to stay I n the lane and kill the guy, instead of trying to avoid him.

They expect you not to take the inside track of the baseline to hit the catcher. Its the rule. Not arguing that its a good rule.

That’s a tough a call... what else was jake supposed to do? I get why they called him out but it literally meant jake couldn’t win in that situation... either get tagged out or forced out.

It doesn't look good after Lucroy had to leave under such injured circumstances, but I'd still file a protest against this game after that call. That's ridiculous. Jake's body isn't even fully off the chalked line taking that inside slide. This isn't sliding 5 ft out of the baseline to hit somebody like they used to do at 2nd Base.

It was the right call. Jake knocked him the F out though! Damn...

"Yeah, I feel very strongly about it. I like guys getting hit by pitches, sliding hard into 2nd, hitting the catcher, all that stuff."

I assume they gave LA the call because they almost lost a second player in a week.

It was kind of bizarre that Jake went inside on that play. It looked like he may have been trying to avoid a collision.

As I obviously said im watching the Angels broadcast and they showed a few angles from the 1B where it clearly showed that Jake took the inside path.
