Lose and... you still get in is not the same as lose and you're out. I would certainly much rather guarantee at least 3 games - and a series, overall - to a single play-in game. But not at the expense of burning my ace - that greatly reduces your chances of winning a WC/ALDS. Eye on the prize; I would not rate that as significantly important in the grand scheme of things. Keuchel's road ERA, prior to the Annihilation in Arlington, was 3.13 - which was best among starters and more than a run better than McHugh's. He's your best pitcher. I want Keuchel/Kazmir throwing four of five ALDS games. The wild card is obviously a new wrinkle - if we have to win that first, again: you do it with your best and then pick up the from there.

I don't understand why Marisnick doesn't start over Rasmus center today. He's a superior defender, faster on the base paths and hits for about the same average. With that said I hope Colby has a big game.

They aren't the same at the plate despite the average. Rasmus is closer to his defensive equal than Marisinick is closer to his offensive equal.
We are also facing one of the last remaining RHP that we will face aren't we? That means Marisnick should be seeing plenty of playing time coming up.

These slow starts are a common theme with the Astros. Just ridiculous. Change up a routine for crying out loud
