On a related note... was the attempted "steal" discussed by Porter after the game? That was such a terrible decision. Was it a botched hit and run? I would have appreciated hearing the commentary but I was at the game.
Carter, Peacock and Stassi? Not a bad haul and Lowrie is only hitting .245 with 4 HRs. Granted, he is putting up better offensive numbers than Villar, but by the time the Astros are legitimate playoff contenders (2015? 2016?), Correa should be in the lineup.
There was only speculation among Ashby and Brown as to whether or not Corporan missed a sign. Corporan was having a bit of an animated discussion with Brock at 1B, but you couldn't tell if it was "did I miss a sign?", "What the heck was Porter thinking giving a steal sign?" or "what the heck was Carter doing on his own?".
I was sitting almost right over third base (Section 313). I can't remember the exact play, but I do remember a bang bang play that could have gone either way and it went LAL (I think it was in the 6th... not the steal play in the 4th). There was also an early "stro drive down the line (I think Altuve) that sure looked like it went right over the bag. But there were three close calls involving the 3rd base ump and all went LAL. There were two bang bang calls at first that seemed to go LAL. And the ball/strike calls in the 8th and 9th all seemed to go LAL (I may be blinded by blue and orange... I don't recall any that went HOU, but again, these were all casual observations after a few years away from the park).
The ball hit by Altuve was clearly foul. Angels' fans were probably incensed by some of the ball calls during the Astros 8th. There was the bunt Corporan laid down where Carter was also thrown out at 3rd and he was clearly out. That happened in the 6th. Other than that (and the caught stealing), I don't think there were any other plays at third. Even though those three calls all went the Angels' way (Caught stealing, force play on bunt, Altuve foul ball), they were all clearly the correct call.
