Actually, you can't. Astros are 2.5 games behind Boston, the team just ahead of them in.

Oops. I messed up some numbers there.

Anyways. A good stretch of games, and you can start passing teams up. But

I stand by that fact that they have been playing better than the teams in front of them for some time now.

The problem is we have to play better than 10 teams for the duration of the rest of the season get the wildcard.

The fact that we are only 5.5 back is a huge deal

Thinking playoffs this year is probably a bit much, but let's try to keep chipping away and get to .500, if and I mean IF we can get to that point, then who knows

I think the starting pitching isn't sustainable, but it has been fun to watch.

I think they are playoff caliber if they move up Correa and trade for a better LF'er.

    Next year will be interesting.

70 wins would be a good goal for this season. Then .500 for next year and playoff contention for the year after.

I would typically agree, but most of the time when you see pitchers produce numbers that they can not sustain, it is because of balls being hit right at guys and hitter just missing getting one out of the part, and things like that.

With McHugh, he has 54 K's in 50 IP, which is outstanding. Also, because he was so bad in limited mlb stints in 2012 and 2013 he had zero hype, but if you look at the minor league numbers, they are very good. I'm not saying he is going to have a 2.5 era from here on out, but I do think he has a good chance to be a very solid mlb pitcher

Keuchel just has the look of a different pitcher this year, for reasons well documented on here. For one, his walk rate is way down. In an age where many super stars come up and produce in a big way when they are in their early 20's, sometimes we forget a lot of very good players don't become that until their mid 20's, and he is 26. For some reason, when I watch Keuch pitch, I see a guy who might not be a true ace, but a guy who could pitch at the front end of a rotation for years

Cosart continues to put up peripheral numbers that make people cringe, but he also continues to get people out. And I think some forget this kid barely turned 24 years old. Whether he takes it up a level or two along the way we will see, but I certainly think he is going to be a very solid mid rotation pitcher as he develops.

Put a true Ace at the front of this rotation, an in their prime Cliff Lee/Sabathia/Wainwright or whoever, put one of those in front of those three and add in another guy on the same level as those three, and we have a rotation that can win big. And the thing is, we have a lot of arms on the way to compete with these guys. Just gotta hope that Appel, Rodon (Aiken), McCullers or someone, turns into that true top of the rotation ace

I really like the top 7 of tonight's lineup. But where will Correa and Domingo Santana be slotted into this lineup?

    CF Fowler
    2B Altuve
    RF Springer
    C Castro
    1B Singleton
    3B Dominguez
    DH Carter

    SS Correa
    LF Santana

Grossman, DeShields, Hoes, Villar, Stassi, Ruiz, etc

Luhnow is going to have one monster of a team under club control for many, many years

As much as I liked Alan Ashby as a player and a radio commentator, I cannot stand him on the TV broadcasts... He is just so annoying and feels the need to incessantly fluff up both Astros & visiting teams' players.
