Gladly, the bad call didnt cost us the game. Watching Veras work gave me flashbacks to the waning days of Brad Lidge (biting nails).
If the Astros sweep the Angels, my guess is Scioscia gets fired...it's early in the season, but with the expectations they've dug themselves an awfully deep hole.
Pujols average has dropped every single year since 2008. Hamilton's average and OBP are worse than Carter's and his only 3 HRs have come against Houston. Those guys make millions and millions more than Carter. What should be done with them? Based on WAR, Carter is more valuable than Hamilton and not too far behind Pujols. (the question is rhetorical due to your knee jerk reaction towards Carter - I do realize that Pujols and Hamilton have a history)
Meeting a client for happy hour and then home to hang out with my wife and kids. Not that you asked for me to share my Outlook calendar with you!
Whoever made that decision should be let go. Of course that isn't even as bad as the called strike 3 against the Rays earlier this season, and the same umpire made a bad call at the plate earlier this week against the Rays again. He should be let go as well. Why MLB doesn't have review on all run scoring plays is beyond me.
If the Astros sweep the Angels, I can guarandamtee you Peter Gammons will have blocked me from Twitter.
I'm still surprised he survived after last season. The noose certainly gets tighter if they get swept by the Astros and sit just .5 games out of last place.
