Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess). 5-7 C.J. Wilson, LHP vs. Jordan Lyles, RHP 7:10 5-8 Joe Blanton, RHP vs. Bud Norris, RHP 7:10 5-9 Jason Vargas, LHP vs. Lucas Harrell, RHP 7:10
With a $150 million payroll, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have won exactly 3 more games than the Houston Astros this season.
Here are some of the guys that make more than the Astros entire roster: Alex Rodriguez: 0 games played Johan Santana: 0 games played Mark Teixeira: 0 games played Tim Lincecum: 2-1 4.41 ERA The most enjoyable part about the Angels is that they backloaded these deals (Contract remaining including this season): Josh Hamilton (5 years $125M): .208/.255/.296 Albert Pujols (9 years $228M): .237/.319/.407 CJ Wilson (4 years $67M): 3-0 4.04ERA 1.57WHIP Jered Weaver (4 years $70.8M): 0-1 4.91ERA 1.36WHIP (injured)
I had to go look this up, thought it had to be wrong. Well, its not. There is one thing worse than being terrible. Its being terrible with no future and a massive payroll.
2. Dodgers $217M 13-18 3. Phillies $165M 15-18 7. Angels $128M 11-20 8. White Sox $119M 13-17 9. Blue Jays $118M 12-21 That is 5 of the top 9 payrolls. Of the bottom 9, only 2 have winning records, so money is doubling your chances: 27. A's $61M 18-15 25. Rockies $72M 18-13

You gotta wonder how much leash Mike Scioscia has. 2nd season in a row off to a terrible start after signing a big free agent class. Can't blame him for Hamilton swinging (and missing) at everything under the sun or the injuries to the rotation...but they should be much better than they are.
It would be hard to imagine him ever being let go. If it does happen, it would be in the way Torre left NYY.
Angels are playing some terrible defense right now. Should have fielded Grossman's bunt, should have thrown out Barnes on the missed bunt. Should have caught Jimmy Paredes' double. So nice for it not to be happening to us.
I really hope they give Paredes some everyday playing time. We need to find out if this guy is legit or not.
