No kidding... but the die-hard AI fans are pretty young/dense, so there's a good chance that they had no idea who Prince was... and their current opinion of him is that he's a bit of a fruit.
You're right. AI is the hugest show on tv right now. Performing on AI will give them much more pub then performing on Jay Leno or David Letterman.
Its a self-fullfilling beast that just can't be stopped. The show is so damn cheap for them to produce, since they don't really have any "star" talent between the judges/host, and their record company is guaranteed to get a platnum-record star out of their first album, based on all the hype that comes with winning (regardless of whether or not they're good). Its almost like they have their own liscence to print money... its that unfair.
Good thing that America isn't voting anymore... Taylor wouldn't get past the initial auditions if he sang this song like this for the judges.
