I don't know why but I think Kat will win although Taylor should.

    Soul Patrol! Soul Patrol!

FOX's ridiculous decision to give the finalists only 3 lines each (when there are 12 lines available) will make the final tally close (which is what they want), but Taylor will win, anyway. If each contestant had the maximum 6 lines for voting, which is what SHOULD have happened, Taylor would crush Kat easily (bad for FOX). Taylor's led DialIdol voting just about every week and has never been in the bottom 2 or 3. Therefore, I predict a gray-haired Soul Patrol victory tomorrow night. (Whether he can actually sell albums is another matter, though.)

Did anyone else cringe during the two incredibly crappy original songs? I swear AI has a computer (using Pro Tools) that randomly produces generic, sappy songs with politically correct, supposedly inspirational lyrics (I shall dub thee the "IdolTron 5000"). Man, AI has really generated some clunkers over the years. Ugh.

BTW, here's a link to the latest Taylor Hicks spoof from last week's SNL season finale.

DialIdol has Taylor winning. And they're basically 100% correct every time. Here comes Tayloooooooor Hicks!

Yep, Taylor's got it all wrapped up. 10 point lead on dialidol is pretty damn significant.

I also feel that the original songs were HORRID, especially Kat's.

I agree with ya'll that Taylor is a lock to win.. I thought Taylors Elton John song was really weak this time around though.. I hated both of "their" songs too, Chris will out sell everyone from this season put together IMO..

I thought the final show was somewhat of a letdown and agree with you all that the song choices were not that great.

Taylor tore up In the City though. They could have recorded that, made it into and single, and sold it right there. Kat's first song was just blah, get off the floor already. It was cool the first time, but now it just makes you look lazy.

I thought Kat sang Somewhere over the Rainbow good, but it's still wasn't as good as Judy Garlands version. That's what will hurt her. I don't even know what Elton John song that was Taylor sang. Very boring. If he was going to do Elton John he should have done Tiny Dancer.

Taylor will win and I think that's the right choice. I might even buy his CD when it comes out.

They both had to pick from previous songs that they sang during the show.. I thought Kat did even better this time with Over the Rainbow, she was great IMO..

Taylor will win and easily deserves to. Been saying so since day 1. Best AI contestant in all 5 seasons combined by far in my opinion.

Will he sell records? Is he marketable? Why do any of you care? You guys dont get a cut of the profits if you didnt know, and a $1 Million hit isnt going to bankrupt Arista records, or lessen the popularity of the show one iota. Ridiculous point of debate in my opinion. Is the point of the show to be entertained or to figure out who we think can sell the most records? Taylor was by far the most entertaining, unique, etc., combined with a great voice.

only question that remains is are they going to make up pretend percentages and say how close the voting was, like they did last week.

I think Kat should have done "knock on your door" again. It was upbeat and personally my favorite song of the season for her.

Taylor Hicks has imposed his will on this competition and he deserves to win...and bone Paula. ;)

I'd never watched this show before this season--I happened to catch Taylor's audition and said, "I'm going to watch this till he's out." I can't believe I've spent five months watching American Idol.

Anyway, I don't know why Katharine picked that terrible, terrible first song again. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was just as bad as the first time--the judges' praise for her performance is inexplicable. Her last song was boring.

Taylor won it with three good performances. Nothing amazing, but certainly good enough.

Does anyone know the reasoning behind having the contestants choose songs they already sang?

Taylor trying to sing in "new" sounding song crap like his "new single" song will kill his chance of making any money and destroy any hope for a singing career. He needs to record older bluesy sounding stuff along with some old covers. It would be a great change for the radio and something unique to make some money from.

He wasn't even the best of the top 5 this year. He isn't even in the same league as a Kelly, Carrie, or Clay (who I hated). Chris, Elliot, Kat, and Paris are leaps and bounds better singers than Taylor. He was entertaining at first but now he is just annoying mostly because he shouldn't be there. It is a singing competition and he is not the best singer. He is going to be as big of a flop as Reuben the only difference is that Reuben could out sing Taylor any day of the week.

Had Taylor been voted off weeks ago when he should have been, I would probably still like him.

I actually picked Taylor (as did Fatty) in the beginning. I think that he has this thing that makes people want to go and see him live.

He may not be the best singing Idol winner but he is certainly the most unique and the best performer.

He's not a bad guy, and he's a good singer. I just find the disgusted faces that he makes while he's singing to be annoying. Other than that, I like him.

I also think that if it's supposed to be merely a singing competition, then Taylor shouldn't have been in the top 3.

Just because Taylor isn't as good of a technical singer as many of the past Idol winners doesn't mean that he isn't a really good singer. I enjoy that he keeps strong to the melody and within his own signature vocal runs.

In most categories that he was put in I think that he was rarely uncomfortable with what they made him sing because he was able to make it his own in his simple way.

The thing about Taylor is that he has an excellent tone to his voice in my opinion that is very bluesy and raw. If they used him correctly, they could make a hit record and bring back more of a classic sound without purely going back to the blues.

Unfortunately, based on those cheesy songs that they had to sing last night and the cheesy things that they are doing to Bo Bice, I doubt that they will handle Taylor's talent very well.

As for Katherine, I don't see that she will be able to make a successful record. There's nothing that really sticks out about her. She's pretty and she sings well, but neither is so extraordinary that she will be a star. If I heard her voice singing on the radio, I doubt that I would be able to recognize it. I would be able to recognize Taylor and Chris and Elliot.

I disagree. I think the both of these two could put out successful records. I could see Katherine putting out a Christina Aguilera-type cd, but with less scratchiness in the voice. She's just gotta choose to take that road...
