THANK YOU. He has a nice voice and will probably make records based on the hype, but like Cohen said about Elliott, his style doesn't do it for me. If you listen to individual notes in these performances Kat and Elliott consistantly do different things with their voices while Taylor and Chris rely on the same runs. Kat looks like she's lost her confidence, Elliott is peaking at just the right time.
I think the problem with Kat is that she tries to do different things. She needs to stick to keeping songs simple and not go over the top with them like Simon said. When she sang Fools Rush In in the Elvis medley last night she was great.
Wow it was a really close vote. Here were the totals for the voting: 1) Taylor - 12,480,000 2) Elliott - 12,410,000 3) Kat - 12,340,000 4) Chris - 12,300,000 When the vote totals are that close that almost tells me that all the phone lines were jammed and it basically comes down to who got lucky enough to have enough calls make it through the phone system.
So I guess the big question is who among the remaining three picks up the most people that voted for Chris.
This guy on radio here in San Diego is connected to someone inside American Idol and he's been giving out the info lately. I posted on here yesterday morning that Chris was the one leaving because this guy said he was, but I took it off before too many people saw it because I didn't know how to make it so people that didn't want to see it wouldn't.
Man, do that many people really like Taylor? Everytime I see him do that stupid smile with the lean while talking and singing I just wana smack him...but that's just me hating haha
Elliot was the underdog, so he's getting the votes of all the people whose ppl got voted off. He's also shorter than the rest, which adds to his underdog image. He also has the best voice, so some vote purely off that. But yeah, he bores me too though I can apprecaite his voice.
I disagree. It seems like people either love Taylor or hate him. So I don't think Taylor's fan base will get any bigger when other people get voted off. I wouldn't be totally shocked to see Chris's votes now getting split between Elliot and Kat, and Taylor getting voted off next week.
It's not that Chris is good. It has to do with the fact that AI needed Chris to win this year after a rocker lost in the finals last year (good for the show's image). Chris will sell more records than Taylor (because he's polarizing), Elliott, or Kat, guaranteed. When the American Idol sells less records than a runner-up, the whole show becomes a farce (see: Studdard, Ruben). Plus, a Chris/Taylor final would have been a ratings bonanza with real intrigue and suspense. Now? Well, Taylor is gonna pull a Vince Young and walk into the endzone untouched on 4th down. Whoever he goes against will be CRUSHED. The winner is gonna be as obvious as Kelly-Justin was in season 1, and that doesn't make for good TV (which is what this is all about, people).
Have I heard of this band? Chris Daughtry Gets Job Offer From Fuel By STEVE HARTSOE, Associated Press Writer Fri May 12, 5:35 AM ET Chris Daughtry is looking to launch his music career after getting booted from "American Idol." Fuel is searching for a lead singer after Brett Scallions quit. The band offered Daughtry a job Thursday, hours after viewers voted him off the Fox television talent show. Bass player Jeff Abercrombie and guitarist Carl Bell made their pitch on the TV show "Extra." "Chris, if you are watching, we've talked about this before, and if you want to entertain it again we'll take it and go," Abercrombie said. Daughtry, who dreamed of becoming a rock star while working in the service department at a Greensboro car dealership, told reporters earlier Thursday he was considering whether to pursue fronting an established rock band or launching a solo career. "I'm a songwriter myself," the 26-year-old said. "To be able to launch my own career would be a dream" come true. The buzz around Daughtry for weeks has been that he could end up Fuel's lead singer; Scallions left the band in February. Daughtry performed the band's song "Hemorrhage" on a recent "Idol" show. His wife, Deanna, said she's not sure which option he should pursue, but either way music is all he's ever wanted to do. "He's got a lot on him and hopefully he'll have a lot of wisdom there," she said. "The public forgets so fast about those idols once they get off the show. I just hope they don't forget about Chris." Many observers thought the shaved-head rocker from McLeansville would win this year's competition. On Tuesday's show, Daughtry performed two Elvis Presley songs. His rendition of "Suspicious Minds" drew strong reviews from judges. Paula Abdul said, "See you in the finals." Judge Simon Cowell said his second song — "A Little Less Conversation" — was "flat" and not as good as the first performance. Daughtry, who said he doesn't regret anything he did on the show, said he was shocked to get voted off because so many people had picked him to win — which may have led overconfident fans to not bother casting votes. "They didn't have to vote as hard, and I think that was the downfall, in my opinion," he said, refusing to critique the other three finalists. "It was definitely a gut-wrenching moment and I was not expecting it, even a little bit." Some fans around his hometown fear their votes were mistakenly credited to one of the other contestants because they'd get another hopeful's voice thanking them for the call instead of Daughtry's, family friend Tracey Adams said. One music industry expert said it shouldn't be the end for Daughtry, who has a great opportunity to cash in as a solo artist because of the equity he's built on the show. "I think he should definitely pursue that at this point," said Jeff Walker, president of AristoMedia, a Nashville-based company that develops and promotes music artists. "He's got a lot of people that like him." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060512...UbcV.Ss0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3YXYwNDRrBHNlYwM3NjI-
I don't. I think he would go into the studio, make an album, and before it comes out, people will have already forgotten about him. Either that, or he gets rushed in the studio in order to capitalize on his AI status and puts out a flop of an album. If he signs up with Fuel (I've never heard their music, but I know the name), he has a much better chance at making a living with music. It's a ready made situation for him.
I agree. It seems like he can't go wrong with a proven band. I think it gives him that much more credibility.
Fuel is an awesome band and Chris should definitely get with them. He did their song Hemorrhage early in the show and was fantastic.
He should do his own thing, Fuel is a great offer, but maybe they have had their day in the sun. Chris could launch a solo career and hit it big, though most Rockers are part of a band, not like country where the singer/songwriter is the key. DD
How dare Taylor sing Otis.... that's my song. - Ducky It should be Taylor and Kat in the finals next week.
