The answer is yes. If you are doing covers, even if the whole song is about covers, you should mention that is a cover. Other singers on this show have. Elliot did. All the singers say that they are doing such and such song by such and such in such and such year. I'm not hating on Chris. I just wish that he would give credit where credit is due. He did a good enough job, but the judges acting like he came up with this version of the song is wrong. Not his fault, I suppose, but he could have corrected it by mentioning that he was singing Walk The Line by Cash redone by Live.
I just listened to the Live version of Walk the Line and it is obvious that's where Chris got the idea to do an alternative version of the song, but I also think that Chris didn't do it exactly like Live in the way that he did Higher Ground like RHCP. The Live version stays pretty mellow the whole time except for one small part. Chris did the Live version to start, but he built it up and sang it at the range that is his strength and that's why he did such a great job. Chris' version was better than the Live version IMO.
Yeah, I just knew he didn't come up with that himself even though I have never heard the Live version (God I hate that band). It's bull**** but a good strategy and getting over on AI is kind of funny.
That's a good point about strategy. This is the first time that I've seen someone really take a strategy to the competition. I'm sure that each contestant as an approach with their identity, but Chris has really made it a point to make the competion fit him instead of trying to fit into the competion.
The Pickel girl has a strategy as well. Just pretend to be the cute lil ol' country gurl and hope to win because of her (totally fake) personality.
Yay! Dialidol.com is back, and apparently, in a bit of a surprise, Elliott is predicted to be kicked off. Dum dum DUM! (Personally, I think Bucky is a goner, but I went with Elliott in my AI pool. The site was pretty close to perfect last week in predicting the bottom 3 and boasts an overall 85% accuracy rating since the start of the season. We'll see if scientific data trumps gut feelings... )
Kind of accurate. They had Lisa, Ace, and Kevin as the bottom three, but Melissa got voted off. It was amazing that they predicted Ace to be in the bottom three.
So much for Elliot getting eliminated. If Kellie says, "what's a ____," one more time someone needs to slap her.
Oh well. The good news is, because I picked Elliott to leave, I actually predicted the other 2 losers correctly... in the right order. No one else in my pool picked Kevin, so my gamble actually helped me.
