This is coming down to Adam vs. Kris/Danny.

I'm ripping off a friend's observation about these three contestants:

Adam: Great voice, great stage presence, relies on his voice to make things his own unique style.

Kris: Good voice, okay stage presence, great at re-working the backing music of the song to make it his unique style.

Danny: Great voice, okay stage presence, not much else that is appealing.

These are the only three that I feel have a shot to win the contest. Allison is very talented, but I don't think she's got a shot at winning considering how many times she's been in the bottom three. Allison and Matt will be the next two eliminated unless Kris drops a huge turd next week.

Overall, a very forgettable show last night.

Didn't watch last night as I was struggling in buying a home computer. From what I have heard and read, I didn't miss much. I like jazz music but I have never been a big fan of vocal jazz music or anything else that is "rat pack" like.

Matt has been in the bottom, it seems, like every other week (I know he wasn't last week), so I am guessing it is his time to go. I think it will be a miracle if Allison survives into the final 3 - the American public just hasn't been connecting with her for some reason. And even though I think Kris is miles ahead of Gokey, Gokey has the legions of fans who will vote him in the finals due to his personal life.

this week, Gokey and Kris were pretty close to each other I think (personally I had Gokey ahead). And I thought Gokey had been falling for the most part over the previous 4 weeks or so.

Allison has been in the bottom often also, so it could just as easily be her time to go as Matt's.. and both had their issues last night (compared to the other 3). allison in being forgettable, matt in the 1st half of his song (in general)

it was matt.. no big deal. Next week you'd think would almost surely be Allison...except:

    a) it's rock week, and that should be money for her

    b) she broke out of the bottom when you'd think she woulda been there, maybe indicating she picked up some of Lil's votes?

so could still be interesting. Might be toughest for Kris to pull off Rock week

yeah, he's not too authentic when he goes for that harder edge. i'd like to see allison advance.

adam has that same appeal that taylor hicks had, or that beat box guy. it's different enough to keep him advancing, but his future is back on broadway.

This is a good point. Adamis too over-the-top to be a consistent record seller in my opinion. (Although, he has an electronica-type pop song that you can listen to on youtube....) If he were to tone it down, he would lose some appeal, but he would sell more records.

I think he just might be too polar of a figure to win this thing. I think the fact that people either love him or hate him will help whoever is in the finals against him, should he make it.

Personally, I'm rooting for Kris. I would have to say I think he can make the most "current" album of them all.

yep, i agree with all that you said.. i'm rooting for Kris now that i've seen them all enough.. but again, I picked Gokey to win it all about 10 secs after he auditioned in his first episode, so I'd be happy if that came out to be right also.

I like some of the stuff Adam does, but I wouldn't want him to win.. Allison is consistent, but somehow not quite on the level of Kris for me. I'd say right now she's above Gokey still, though

Yep. I picked Gokey and/or Giraud as my picks after auditions, so I've kind of been rooting for the both of them.

Right now, I want Kris to win, though.

btw, pretty funny moment that i didn't think they'd go to on live TV..

--maybe not exact quotes, but pretty close

ryan: (after announcing adam in the bottom 3): Kara, I noticed your jaw dropped when you heard Adam was in the bottom 3

Kara: Yeah, it did. (opens mouth wide) There, that's what always happens with him

    Randy: (ahem) (cough, cough)

Kara: Yeah I know.. you know what I mean!

Ryan scrambles back away from the topic

    pretty funny..

In the song they sang, he was the only guy that sang to a "him" if you noticed....

I thought that that was a pretty open admission.

Not that there's anything wrong with that....

Does anybody really believe that Adam was really second lowest. I think they Adam was possibly 3rd lowest, but I doubt seriously that he was second lowest.

As soon as they said Matt and Adam were the bottom 2, Matt KNEW he was dead meat.

It just highlights the stupidity of using that save on Matt. Can you imagine how the judges would have felt if Adam got voted off and they couldn't save him? I was halfway pulling for that to happen just to see their reaction.

I couldn't believe Adam was in the bottom 3. Could there finally be a chink in his armor?

Also, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but....am I the only one who actually thought Paula looked pretty hot last night?

kind of a disappointing show considering the mentor and the genre.

i thought matt would have been better suited doing a rob halford/judas priest song....considering.

i admit taking a little pleasure in watching danny go down in flames.

i don't think kris was as bad as the judges thought.

i wish allison would have picked a better song, maybe ann wilson/heart. baracuda, crazy on you. at least something more up tempo.

Man, I still can't get over Danny's last note.

Probably one of the worst notes ever to be sung on the show...

I don't know, I really didn't like Adam's performance. And I haven't been one of his critics in the past. I just didn't like it. Were the judges overselling it afterwards b/c he was in the bottom 3 last week or was it really that good?

Allison's I thought was solid, except she was adding in things that clearly weren't her style, so they must have been off the original.

Kris's song--I thought he did really well. He missed the high note twice, but other than that, I thought it was sweet and in his style (which I THOUGHT was what they're looking for). A little safe in terms of range, though, which is why I'd agree with Simon that it was boring.

Danny looked nervous. Never seen that out of him. Maybe thinking about the difficult song? Horrible scream at the end. Gross.

    Allison
    Kris
    Adam
    Gokey

I'd prefer Adam go home. I could realy see any of the 4 leaving this week--toughest call I've seen. Based on this performance alone, Gokey should leave...but he has fans out the yin yang.

    ---------

    throw in the duets

Kris/Danny--didn't enjoy it a ton, though they weren't terrible.

    Adam/Allison--thought they both helped themselves

I expect Kris to be out.

Yes, the ghost of Matt should've sung better.

I thought it was a solid overall show, I really liked having two of them sing together.. I'm fairly confident that Chris will be going home..
