That's another thing that I can't stand. American Idol has become a kind of freak show. If you aren't doing something weird or different than you shouldn't even sing. It really isn't a singing contest anymore. And I hate born to run. I hate that song in any version and adam's version really sucked.

I think it that is what you do than fine. But if you can sing a song with great tone and color your words that's all you need. Let's be honest most of these performances scream as amateur because everybody oversings there songs. It is like gokey tonight. His first bars of endless love was amazing to me, but then he keeps going up and up in his register and he doesn't need to do it.
Lil Rounds was okay, but she's just... boring. I laughed when my DVR decided to diss her and cut her off right as she said, "Can I say something?" NO ONE talks back to Simon! And seriously, only 2 judges giving comments tonight? WTF is that crap? How about silencing Seacrest or, I don't know, showing less commercials, FOX? Danny is a glorified church singer. I didn't understand why everyone was so high about him, I still don't. But looks like his aura is wearing off - together with his designer eye glasses. Adam is definitely over theatrical, but I admit some people would find it fascinating. 17 Year old girl is still the best singer, and I'm start to warm up to Chris a bit. And they all kind of sucks this week.
No comments on how weird it was to have Quentin Tarantino as the mentor? "Yeah, make your nose almost touch your chin, look like an 1850s prospector."
I don't know who said on the previous page that Lil Rounds was actually good.. holy crap, i paused it just now before listening to the judges to post.. she was terrible! off key ALL the way through. missed so many notes everywhere. i mean she wasn't worse than matt... but she was bad. Here are my rankings/tiers kris (not sure what randy was on, that was the most heartfelt of all the performances..for once, really felt like one of the performers was into it. And it was on key..) allison (really great as always...she's been the most consistent) anoop (solid--and i usually don't like him--but i can't see him recording anything i'd want to listen to) gokey (picked him to win it, but he's been going downward for so long. very so-so this week) adam (i usually like him, but i feel like this time he went a little over the top in terms of changing *everything* just for the sake of change.. just my opinion. He didn't mess up the notes or anything) lil rounds (see above) matt-horrible...sucks, cause when he's on, i really like him edit: wanted to add that i had never heard the song Kris sang before.. and i think you have to do a really great job to get someone to connect with and really love a song quickly that they haven't heard. It has to be done well and performed well..
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I am by far a music teacher for pitch, but I didn't hear her out of tune, so if she was it was very minor. Adam was just noise in my opinion. He was all over the place and to say that he didn't mess up the notes is ridiculous to me, my question is how in the world could anybody know if he was or not the way he sings. Rounds out sung everybody in my opinion.
maybe everyone can agree that Matt was the worst.. based on this week alone at least (personally, I'd say Lil is the worst if you combine the last 3 or 4 wks)
I agree that Rounds has been terrible most of the time. Her Tina impersonation was truly awful. So on accumulation alone, she is deserving of anybody to go home, but I just don't like it when the judges criticize just to ensure that she is going home. Paula does this crap every week, she stands up and dances her heart away for Gokey and Adam. It is simple unfair.
I think Fox is really losing it. I mean last week they run over their 60 minutes and than someone at Fox comes up with a boneheaded idea of only letting 2 judges speak at a time. That made no sense. You have fewer contestents and you would think you would have ample time for the judges to give their feedback. But no... We have to deal with Seacrest BS, Paula usually interupting Simon and the numerous commercials. Just plain BS... I want to hear all 4 judges give their say (actually could do without Paula all together, but that is different story). Fox is really starting to drop the ball.
Paula is a drugged out crack w**** and painful to watch. She slurs her ridiculous responses that more often than not do not make any sense at all. If she were a dog, I'd put her down.
You'd think after 7 years they'd know what they were doing. But in their defense they do have an extra judge this season. I also find it interesting that the judges can pick apart every minute detail of one performers song and then completely gush over another, despite the latter being far from perfect.
Paula needs to go. We don't need 4 judges. Keep simon, randy, and Kara. Please get rid of Paula, she offers nothing to the show, absolutely nothing.
I've posted in this thread before just to comment on how overrated I think Adam Lambert is each week, but I thought I'd give my self some credibility by saying that I actually thought he was really good tonight. Reason being, the song he performed tonight was perfect for his style. It's just that he tries to adapt his style to every single song he sings, and that doesn't always work for me. For example, I thought Mad World was pretty good until he started shrieking about 3/4 of the way in. He can't seem to help but make everything overly dramatic. For tonight I'd rank like this... Strong Kris Adam Solid Anoop Danny Weak Matt Allison Lil
I'm sorry, Adam is still VERY overrated. America gets so caught up every year now in someone different that they forget that this is a competition to find the next mainstream hit artist. I really don't see how Adam can put out a full CD of every song consisting of him screaming like a coyote giving birth. I mean, he's being entertaining and I guess original, but most of his stuff would never be a hit single played on the radio. If it was American Next Vegas Strip Performer, then he should be the legit favorite. But, just like guys in previous shows like Blake and Taylor, his momentum and popularity will drop as soon as the season ends and then even more when his CD drops and everyone hears how crappy it sounds. Brilliant? The only performers that have a shot and being successful mainstream artists are Kris, Allison and Lil even though none of them will win it.
AI has a new producer this year, the original AI producer left before this season started.. The timing, camera guys on stage and the odd cutaways are all making the show look bad this year IMO.. IMO the show needs a new producer and they need to go back to the three original judges next year.. I totally agree, but the show does seem to put out more flops than hit singers overall so it doesn't surprise me that the majority like him.. As far as last nights show goes, i think Allison did the best while Matt will most likely go home..
