Bottom line, the bullpen still sucks. I don't care how well it did in the season, it's starting to shows flaws now and needs to be addressed this off season. The bullpen blew games 2 & 4. Astros would've already swept if the bullpen didn't crack in game 2. I get the feeling the Astros lose Game 5. I mean, all the confidence has gone back to the Royals now.
If the Astros lose Wednesday, this series (namely today's game) would deserve mention with everything you stated.... even if it's toward the bottom. Any way you slice it, this would be an epic fail.
They've been the napalm brigade since the end of August Its the main reason the Astros tumbled out of first Why would anybody be surprised at this???
The thing is that this isn't a Mystery why they've lost. It's obvious to everyone. If Hinch makes a change Wed then I don't see a weakness. Royals have been exposing Astros weakness in the 2 games they've won. Eliminate the weakness Hinch!
Yes, giving up 4 hits is much different than giving up 2 hits. Saying that he should have been pulled after 2 hits is purely going on hindsight. Pulling him after 4 hits is evidence enough that Harris isn't getting anyone out.
I'm not surprised by it. When they lost the division lead it ticked me off. Astros this off season need to find a established closer, and some established setup pitchers and not some pretenders.
If Colin can have a quick 1st inning, and we can get a couple hits to start the game, not even necessarily get a run, I think everything that happened today will be forgotten. But if we fall behind, even if it's close early, I fear everything will snowball. Give KC credit - they know our Achilles Heel and are forcing Hinch's hand with these long ABs.
Exactly. Harris gave up 4 hits in a row. That's a red flag or red alarm to the manager to pull him out but I guess Hinch was blind or stupid today.
Putting things in perspective, this team taking the best team in the AL to 5 games is a stepping stone for this franchise. I still expect them to advance to the next round though.
I had to give a presentation here at work and when I went in we were up 6-2, I was all smiles! WTF??? I am in shock! Wow.
Just read McCullers made a throat slash gesture when he was leaving the game and KC saw it. Karma came back to bite.
If we can't rely on Sipp/Harris/Luke there is not a lot Hinch is gonna be able to do. This team needs to brush this off and move on. After the Pujols homer, some of the Astros had the pilot make a joke about the ball still being in the air when they were flying to STL. This team needs to put this behind them and start being mentally ready for Wednesday.
Didn't look like a throat slash at all to me…if you're referring to the moment when he was walking off the mound. He tapped the side of his neck with two fingers and wasn't even looking towards the KC dugout.
This x 10000. Those of you b****ing at Hinch are hilarious. Exactly what would you have done differently to avoid that outcome? Every reliever he put in got whacked... Exactly what makes y'all think [insert random reliever here] would've faired any better? If you can't rely on some of your best guys to protect a 4 run lead w 2 innings to go and that's on them. Period.
Not gonna lie, this stings. However, I would not be quick to pass blame on Hinch or even the relief pitchers in the game. At some point you just have to give the other team credit. Those guys would not go down and they made the pitchers on the astros miserable with it.
