If Javier can't do it with a 3 run lead for 3 innings, why would he be able to win with 9 innings tied backed up by James?

And take the chance that if Javier doesn't get it done, you have to pitch your bullpen tomorrow?

I think we can all agree Baker doesn’t have a lot of great choices this year

Javier was the best option to go multiple innings and hold that lead. We win and we have a bunch of days off. We lose and its a bullpen game.

Also, if Greinke can't go, I'd go with Garcia if the A's had taken down Javier.

He did hold it in the only inning he should have pitched.

He's been off for a month. He's prone to meltdowns. Javier has already proven within this week that he can go multiple innings and close out this sort of game.

If he doesn't get it done today... you expect him to get it done tomorrow?

Dang. I stepped away for a while and forgot about the game. Tuned back in. And that was a fast swing in the game. Ugh

I would rather rely on a bullpen to hold a -3- run lead, and hold off Javier to start tomorrow just in case they can't hold it rather than throwing Javier out there with a chance that if he does blow it, we have literally no one to start tomorrow are conceding game 4. This way at least Javier gives us a solid chance at winning game 4.
