He did really well, looks like he gave up only 12 this year. Compared to 36 in his previous Cy Young year. I'm no baseball savant, but 36 is a ton, 12 is not.
I think pretty much the 6:37. Prior playoff game I went to started on-time +/- about 5 mins. So maybe like early 6:40's.
There seems to be some talk that LMJ will be tomorrow's starter and that the stros are more comfortable with Valdez on short rest for game 7. We will find out who is starting tomorrow in the next hr or so.
Game 1 - Taillon - Verlander Game 2 - Severino - Valdez Game 3 - Cole - McCullers Game 4 - Cortes - Javier Game 5 - Taillon - Verlander Game 6 - Severino - Valdez Game 7 - Cole - McCullers
Listening to 790? They were fumbling that all up. The game 2 starter will be the game 6 starter unless they hold that pitcher back a day. With their starter depth I'd be shocked if someone went on short rest. Whoever starts game 3 will only get one start and then be available out of the pen for game 7.
well dusty has already mentioned the game 3 starter will probably need to be potentially ready on short rest for possible game 7 start. but i guess this is well see if it gets to that point kind of thing. just reading local folks like adam spol/ben saying they think LMJ will be starting tomorrow
Alex Rodriguez when he was with the Texas Rangers said He wishes he had the Astros Pitching Staff Roy Oswalt, Wade Miller
They've said they need to protect LMJ so they aren't pitching him on short rest. So I could LMJ tomorrow, which gives them the most flexiiblity for a potential game 7 depending on how things play out. Given that we have 7 starters, I wouldn't think anyone on this team should be starting on short rest, but who knows.
Nvm. it's Valdez tomorrow. so we'll just see if it gets to game 7 how itll play out. but advantage astros for the pitching rotation prior to that. Take care of business. I still think stros in 6
Games 3-7 are all in a row, I believe, and they've said they wouldn't start McCullers on short rest because of all his arm troubles, so he can't do 3 and 7, I don't think.
The Astros have the Advantage since Yankees went 5 Games and Gerrit Cole was used in the Guardians Series.
Game 1: Verlander has another struggle-outing, Giving up 4 er in 5 ip, but Jose Altuve and Trey Mancini combine for 7 rbi supported by 4 scoreless from the bullpen. Astros win 7-4 to go up 1-0. Game 2: Framber Valdez pitches admirably, giving up 2 er in 5ip but is pulled early for Seth Martinez, who gets crushed by a 3 run Aaron Judge homer while the Astros offense sputters. New York wins 5-2 to even the series 1-1. Game 3: Lance McCullers throws 7 scoreless innings while the bottom of Houston’s order shines; Astros win 3-0, go up 2-1. Game 4: Cristian Javier dazzles in a close game, throwing 6 innings of 1 hit 1 run ball. A Ryne Stanek meltdown almost costs the Astros the game until a pinch hit 2 rbi double from David Hensley in the 9th gives the Astros the win. Astros win 4-2 to put them one win away. Game 5: An absolute nightmare outing from Justin Verlander gives the game to NYY out of the gate. NY wins 8-3 to bring the series to 3-2. Game 6: In one of the highest scoring 9 inning games in playoff history, both offenses are on fire. A game featuring 12 (twelve!) home runs ends with an Alex Bregman walkoff in the bottom of the 9th to give the Astros a 14-13 lead and a continued path to their 2nd World Series championship.
Looks like there might be some rain in NY forecast for the games there. Hopefully for our sake so they don't get extra rest we play them out becuase I think the advantage is our way right now.
Hopefully Maldy calls a good game, and doesn't repeat what happened last time he was catching for Verlander. Mancini already in bench role, he deserves it.
