No credit to the Rangers. I'll stay with my June opinion that I have all the confidence of beating the 1998 Yanks on the road than beating a crappy 100 loss team at home. This Astros team would have lost to the 2013 Astros these past couple of games and throughout the season. And that can't happen.
Why trade for a CF when you already have one that out performed Julio but just wasn't treated as a "big boy" despite eating banana pudding?
Drastic, but would we move Tuck for Luis Robert straight up? McCormick in RF and Yordan in left with a dh rotation? Might solve some issues...
I like McCormick and think he's an everyday player. I just think they could use a cf with more range who can also hit. I would still play McCormick in lf or dh. Outside of SS that's really the only other place they can make a move...
Maybe he's Hunter Brown or Mccullers insurance. I'm curious what Hunter Brown could fetch in trade. If it's an allstar level player at SS or CF it's worth considering. He's basically our 5th starter if everyone is healthy.
Tim Anderson on a 1 year deal with team option for around 10 million each could make sense. He had .300+ seasons 4 years in a row prior to this year. Could be a good situation here for him to rehab his value. Pena can be a defensive replacement.
I think we ultimately lost because of Maldonado's game calling. He did Valdez and Javier no help making them predictable and one dimensional. Everyone knows where they both like to throw it and the rangers sat on those pitches. The unwillingness to keep hitters honest cost us.
Is it just me or does it seem completely crazy how unprepared we looked? Or just not ready to play at all or whatever you wanna call it. Just can’t believe we got slapped around like that, these last two games. I know it was a rough season but man where’s the fight? Please shake this team up - we need a new identity.
Agreed. This team never felt like a Championship caliber team. They struggled off and on all year for various reasons. It never felt right, and yet the talent and experience pushed them this far. Say what you will about Dusty, but I don’t think he cost us the series. Guys the Astros relied on just didn’t get it done. Tucker, Bryan Abreu wasn’t himself, Framber, Pena, France, the list goes on and on. So I’ll play along with the Dusty cost us 6 to 10 games crowd. Did this team ever feel like a 100 win team? No. All that said, it IS time to move on from Dusty. This team is ready for a fresh perspective. This team is ready to have Diaz catch the bulk of the games. I think the guys will come back focused and better all around in 2024. I absolutely hate losing to the Rangers but it hurts less than I expected. I think for me the reason is two fold. The Astros have been great for several years and we can’t win them all. Second, is my son won his football championship last night and it put things into perspective for me. Seeing him happy and winning chips is a great feeling. Still enjoyed the ride with all you. We will be back.
Crane and Dusty share equal parts blame for only making it this far , which normally is an accomplishment. but , crane fired GM and didn’t get any pitching reinforcements till late in the year when guys were already getting worn down and they couldn’t be load managed because we were playing catch up And Dusty tried too hard to bring Julks , and others along when Chas was having a great year and deserved more PT . Also our old Catcher got too much share and Diaz should have been brought along more .
I don't give a **** what is good for baseball. MLB takes every opportunity to shot on fans and especially the Astros.
This narrative is silly. He had a rough post season but it's baseball. Tucker could just as easily get hot next year and have a nice stretch of post season games. This is a top 5 mvp candidate we are talking about here.
