I figured they'd split at home, but was anticipating the game today. Treat this one like a must win, and let Road Warrior Astros kick in up there at that **** stadium. Y'all take a breath. 94-95 Rockets baby. Remember that! They're the Mother****ing Champs, and they know it!
Brantley and Diaz aren't very good against LHP. Dubon had some of the best contact off Montgomery. There wasn't anything wrong with the lineup. The top half of the lineup **** the bed.
Problem with this analogy is the Astros are generally way better than the Rockets ever were in terms of sustained excellence, seeding, etc. It's not like the Astros are a 20th seed in the playoffs like the Rockets were.
Well except for that bases loaded situation in the 4th where the announcers said that the worst hitter in MLB is now coming to the plate. In closely contested games, one spot in the order can make the difference. One AB can make the difference.
You're right, our three best starters should just "go to another team", because that's how professional sport works. Just grow up, Verlander. Take it from @IBTL : the paragon of maturity.
Agreed. I'd love to see this lineup but we know we're not getting that this postseason. Taking Maldy out of the equation since we know he will catch every inning JV/Valdez pitches, the lineup was the best based on the match up.
Lackadaisical is not a good look in a playoff series. Not every Astro player seemed chilled at the plate, but I think we need to see a bit more intensity. At times the Astros are a bit too "cool" for their shoes.
I'm not sure about Diaz not being very good against LHPs currently. Diaz started very poorly against LHPs (i.e., he wasn't very good against LHPs starting the year), but he hit the ball hard with poor results for a good portion of the year, and finished the year hitting the ball hard with great results against LHPs. There is a very good chance that the 0.941 OPS vs LHPs in September is closer to his OPS going forward versus LHPs than his 0.620 OPS for the season (i think he'll be above 0.800 going forward).
