I actually want us to try Raley as an opener in game 4

plan for him to go an inning , 2 max . Then put in Zach . He will face the bottom of the order and then when he does face the top , they will have faced a lefty .

after you ride Zach for as long as possible , you put in Javier .

Other than unwritten rules, it there any announced pitchers and lineups that can't be ignored when you turn in your line-up card without affecting those players eligibility for the game?

ie Greinke announced as starter, but an opener is used and Greinke comes in afterwards.

You can tell Bregman hates the media, or maybe is just super focused on baseball right now. He used to be so brash and give quotes, now he straight up sounds like Derek Jeter in his answers. Doesn’t bother me at all considering he does a lot to build a relationship with his fans and show his love for the city. He probably just went sour on the writers when the scandal stuff came out.

Anyone know why Siri is starting in CF? Is McCormick injured? I know Meyers still isn't ready.

My point was if they throw Grienke and Javier tonight you can’t get through a bullpen game particularly when two of the bullpen can’t pitch to righties.

Javier and or Grienke aren’t both going to pitch tonight if there is any way to avoid it. I think Javier is the last man available in that sense. If he’s pitching I think we’re getting Framber on short rest whether you like it or not. It’s also only one day short, not two.

I’m not getting ahead of myself, someone asked a question about Javier’s availability tonight and I was answering that. I don’t think he’ll be in the game unless everyone else has been used.

Has Dusty provided any inkling as to why Siri is starting? Is it a bad matchup w McCormick? Seems like an odd move to pull a guy who has been producing fairly consistently this postseason. Does Siri have a significantly stronger defensive presence?

Yeah, I don't understand this unless there is something up with McCormick...physically. it makes no sense that Siri is starting. (I'd love to eat crow later tonight....)

I’m pretty sure once the lineup card is submitted you have to start the game that way. Previously you could have a pitcher throw one pitch and then change, but now they’d have to face three batters.

I don’t think announced lineups mean they formally submitted the card yet, so it could still change until they physically fill out the card and hand it to the ump.

I agree and think it’s about the particular matchup vs Rodriguez. Could definitely see Siri pinch hit for later on in the game… but Siri is absolutely capable of explosive offensive production and it could turn out to be a brilliant move.

Would love to see Bregman have a big game. Feels like he’s always been overshadowed by the performances of Correa, Altuve, and Springer in the postseason.

So in your scenario where they go with Framber on short rest (if Javier has to pitch tonight) what are they going to do on Wednesday? Pitch Garcia on short rest as well? Not going to happen. Not going to throw both Framber and Garcia on short rest especially after wetting the bed.

Tomorrow will be Javier (and Greinke possibly depending if they don't pitch tonight). If they both pitch tonight still going to be a bullpen game. Like I said Stanek, Maton, Raley, Taylor, Yimi, Graveman and Pressly.

One of, if not both, of Javier and Greinke are unavailable tonight so they can pitch tomorrow. Framber is basically Gerrit Cole right now. (In status only). He’s not coming back on 3 days rest unless it’s an elimination game.

Also the bullpen is probably the best part of our staff right now. A couple bullpen games on our end may be in our favor.

That's what I was thinking, but they have so many obtuse special rules now. Like pitcher ineligibility for the next series if replaced by injury.
