Yup, me too. I have barely posted at all since the gm 2 loss. Just cant get too into what's happening. For me though, its not that were losing the series, but how were losing it. Basically, what the teams strength is supposed to be is what has failed them. Sure, great offenses get stymied by great pitching all the time. But this is our offense and our Astros and it doesn't happen often, ever, that we are held to 2 runs scored or less on three consecutive games in the playoffs. I just cant look at that lineup card and see how this could happen.
Agreed, this season felt like a throwaway with all of the injuries and our record coming in. And there a little feeling of "where do we go from here" with JV's injury and the impending free agency of Springer and Brantley. But the rise of Framber, Urquidy, Javier, Pardes and Taylor has injected new life into the pitching staff and reason for optimism.
I’ve done a hard ignore on media for over a year involving Rockets or Astros. If it doesn’t get posted here it’s probably not important. Not watching ESPN and the like is a huge stress reliever as a sports fan. Once the game is over it’s over and you don’t have to think about it anymore.
Probably. Harden generally gets **** on and the Astros media coverage has been a pile of dog ****. Talking heads provide absolutely no information and if your teams are just being dumped on, what’s the entertainment? You can get the same takes from the average clutchfans poster.
National media is the ****ing worst. If it's not Yankees or SAWWWWWWWWWWKS good luck getting fair coverage.
As much as the Rays have won these games with defense and pitching, our lineup has lost it with missed opportunities and Altuve fielding. It is a shame that our biggest weakness (well maybe the bullpen is our biggest weakness) has been our biggest strength and we blew 3 straight games of fantastic starting pitching. RIP Yuli. He passed away 4 weeks ago. This series feels SO much like the 90's Astros series. Just the general feeling you get when you see the quiet dugout
If there’s one spark of hope that can get the Astros back to hitting with RISP like last week it’s Tyler Glasnow who was 0-2 with a 7.71 era in the 2019 ALDS
Is Altuve hiding an injury? Has anything been said about a throwing arm injury? Or, are these just straight up uncharacteristic errors on his part?
Certainly uncharacteristic on his part. He's won a Gold Glove before and this ain't his first rodeo in the playoffs. Sure, he could still have the "yips"... but I don't know if I buy that fully.
This series is unreal...the breaks the Rays have gotten are crazy unreal. It reminds me of 2018 when the Astros were playing the Red Sox. They got every timely out and every timely hit. It's so frustrating to watch because the guys are getting good contact even with the bottom of the order struggling. Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good. Tough break for the Astros. They're still a damned good team even with all the injuries and the rookies pitching.
