I missed this. My friend stopped by to drop you a message. 4!! 4 WINS!! 4 IS GREATER THAN 0!!! HAHAHAHAHHA!!!
A few very incouraging stats... Niners ran for only 59 yards. Schaub leads the league in TDs and is over 2000 yards passing. OD is 4th in Yards and 3rd in catches along with 2nd in TDs among TEs Some positives that came out of today's win.
Is AJ ok? Nice game in the first half, but Slaton has got to hold onto that ball, he has fumbilitis lately. DD
why did they get lucky to win? they ran out to a big lead and did enough to perserve it. they ran when they needed, converted plays when they had to and won the game. was there something I missed? Did the 49ers drop to touchdown passes?
The exact problem was that ALEX SMITH threw 3 TD passes, and if it weren't for Kris Brown's field goal, it would have gone to overtime. When you have a big lead, you have to have a killer instinct to be an elite team. They better hurry up and develop that
they're not an elite team. we all knew that. they're getting better, though. i'm still not sure about the coach...but they've definitely improved. and by the way...kris brown is a texan, too. i think it's ridiculous when people try to take away a play...I've seen Texans fans do that a ton..."take away those 2 huge rushing plays, and we win that game!!" You can't do that...they drove the field, including a great Andre catch, to get that FG. You can't say that anymore than you can say, "Take away one of their TD's and we win that game easy."
good point....they were lucky they scored those 3 tds in the first half too. They were lucky they crushed the niners running game. I think they were pretty lucky too when they owned the niners on their final drive too.
the niners were not lucky when alex "mvp" smith came in threw for 3 tds in the 2nd half. He is such a calm and composed player that you just knew he would dominate. Smith was just doing what he was supposed to do by throwing 3 tds and looking like the dominant qb that he is. Maybe we should trade schaub for smith since this was just another non-lucky day at the office for him. back to being serious for a second....I was kind of surprised to read that mario was not even prepared for a different qb. Makes you wonder if smith's success was only due to our defense not being prepped for his tendencies.
That, and just more or less laid back nature of our defense in the 2nd half. There's plenty of historical precendent when it comes to crappy QBs lighting up a defense coming back in the 2nd half. Heck, Rosenfals has done it too. That said, the end of the game was definitely too close to comfort. We definitely need a better running game to run out clocks.
Good win. It would have been nice to win with a bigger cushion though. I just dont like how we take the lead and just decide to run the ball. We had a chance, at the end of the first half, to put some extra points on the board, but we turned into a "lets just take it easy and go into half time with the lead" kind of team. Im not happy about the approach our coaches take. Take one from the Pats and Colts...beat your opponent when they are down. The 2nd half defense was not good. Thats partly because the Niners started running an offense they dont usually run, so I dont think we had a game plan for that in place. Also, Im sure we studied the tendencies of Hill moreso than Smith, so that could be another factor. That being said, I think we should have done a better job. All in all, glad we got the W. I think we should be able to go and dismantle the Bills quite easily. Hope AJ is okay. Our season will be lost without him.
I don't care about how we win as long we win. Just gotta take it one game at a time. Hopefully AJ is ok! The 610 guys were disappointed after the game for not blowing them out. They mentioned how we aren't like the Colts and Pats and lack the killer instinct, which is true to an extent. The play-calling could have been better imo. Of course, we aren't on the level of the Colts/Pats but it's not like we played the Rams or Tampa either. The Texans beat a physical team coming off a bye. We don't play well against the 3-4 so I'm just glad that we came away victorious.
Lmao 49er fans saying if alex smith started they would have won. Even though this might have been true still the TEXANS WON AND 49ERS LOST.
Warren brought up Ced Benson again lol...My biggest issue was at the end of the 1st half, Kubes was just WAY to conservative when we had them on the ropes. Its sports talk they have to complain about something lol
I saw this and was like "oh come on!" Then on a similar drive late in the 4th, Schaub came out throwing on 1st and second down. Even though the play did not work on first down, the attitude it showed was we are playing to get first downs, not we are playing to run the clock. That little difference probably made the difference in winning and losing. Defense came out on the next posession and seemed to make things a little harder on Mr. Smith. Even got the sealing pick.
I didn't realize AJ coughed up blood: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6685714.html
Johnson returned briefly, but when he tried to return a second time, some members of the team’s medical staff hid his helmet to keep him on the sideline rather than risk further injury. Now thats a leader, amazing how you could be coughing up blood and be ready to play next weekend.
Texans' Johnson suffers chest injury vs. 49ers By JOHN McCLAIN Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle Oct. 25, 2009, 7:16PM Texans receiver Andre Johnson left Sunday’s 24-21 victory over San Francisco with a chest injury but should be ready to play in the next game at Buffalo. Johnson, who was injured in the fourth quarter, was taken to the hospital for X-rays before returning to Reliant Stadium to shower and dress after the Texans’ second consecutive victory. “They’re telling me it’s a chest contusion,” coach Gary Kubiak said. Kubiak will have an update on Johnson at his regular Monday afternoon news conference. Johnson was injured when he caught a 44-yard pass on what proved to be the winning field goal drive. He fell on the ball, coughed up some blood and went to the sideline. Johnson returned briefly, but when he tried to return a second time, some members of the team’s medical staff hid his helmet to keep him on the sideline rather than risk further injury. Johnson’s catch down the middle gave the Texans the ball at San Francisco’s 41-yard line. Kris Brown finished the drive with a 50-yard field goal. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6685714.html
