Yeah, THAT one. I feel he would have quite fit in w/ our lineup as a backup pf…, age23-24, bustling n hustling kinda kid , can even shoot 3s. We got too many guards. NBA Comparison: Bobby Portis Strengths: Giles is an extremely gifted athlete, arguably the best big man prospect in this entire draft when healthy, something he hasn’t been in quite a while … Looks the part of an NBA big man with his frame … An explosive leaper even with the injuries to his knees … He’s got great hands which allows him to finish around the rim and in traffic … He runs the floor well for a big man and is active on the glass … Shows a lot of physicality in the post and doesn’t shy away from contact on defense … Takes contact in the chest, isn’t easily moved off of his spots and is an above average rim protector … Moves his feet extremely well and has really good lateral quickness for a big man … Can play both the PF and C positions in the NBA from a defensive standpoint and while he is a work in progress on the offensive end, he has exhibited an ability to use a variety of post moves to score in the paint … Before his injury, he excelled in a face up game from about 15 feet and used his superior quickness, length and athleticism to get to the rim and finish with a purpose … The consensus top overall player in his class for years while in high , Giles has everything an NBA scout/GM could want from a prospect physically … A tremendous kid with a extremely outgoing and likable personality …
rbn like rodman, but so awful to shoot the ball, 3:10 Weaknesses: The biggest concern with with Vanderbilt is his inability to stay healthy. Struggled with foot injuries throughout his high school … Has a history of ankle and leg injuries which limited him to only 14 games during his collegiate career … Has been hesitant to play through any kind of pain, questions in regard to his toughness … Shot mechanics are not broken, but need to be refined to improve his jumper … Struggles to score from any of the three levels consistently … Only shot 63% from the free throw line at Kentucky and 42.6% from the field … Will occasionally try to force a pass into traffic … Conditioning is an issue, although part of that is due to time missed due to injury … Can play a little out of control early in games as he looks to find a rhythm. Legs are very thin, likely a factor in his leg injuries … Struggled mightily as a scorer … Is that the reason he still available there…?!
Bro, you want so many players lol. We only have room for 17 on the roster. Hopefully we can get rid of some of the clutter (EG/Wall/House) and trash (Lamb? according to you lol), so you can get another few looks at other players.
Vanderbilt Had foot injuries in High School and College but has been relatively healthy in the NBA. He’s a ball handling wing who was forced into the Center position to get on the floor at Kentucky. His game was often compared to Lamar Odoms. But the kid plays hard , is an excellent passer and a plus defender/rebounder. Can guard 2s, 3s, 4s & 5s. Great in switches vs ball handlers. Problem is he NEEDS A SHOT DOC BAAD. Funny thing is he wasn’t a horrible shooter in high school but seems to have totally lost confidence so he’s resigned to play the 5 because of this weakness. His time at Kentucky really hurt his game. But He’s 22, has NBA experience and an outside shot away from being a very useful role player. It’s really the only thing holding him back.
Agree 100%! He would obviously spend time in Rio Grande, but is worth the time. Was hoping he would land here before the draft.
Turning back the clock…5-8yrs ago who would have believed LBJ, russ, melo, superman n DeAndre could join ONE team n share the same floor…are we watching MARVEL movies?
