I think we're headed for a default. There are two possible outcomes to this, IMHO.

    1. The doomsday people are correct, and it helps trigger another significant recession, probably a global one.

    2. It does not trigger a recession globally, because other players step up. Germany and China advance in the room of adult global economic powers, while America takes a step backward in international standing.

Neither is pretty, but hey, if this helps thwart Obamacare, I'm sure it's worth the fight. The sad thing is that it probably won't thwart Obamacare. If and when the politicians ever start working together again, they will just come up with some more austerity type of crap that will further hurt the US economy, it's technology leadership, and on and on.

"Feral bands of mud people." Yes, let's go back to that good old time, STAT!

Last I checked, it was the House, of which neither Reid nor Obama are members, holding up the process. Why is it up to Reid and Obama to correct the quite obvious flaws in the Republican membership in the House?

Rhetorical question, then answer is that it isn't their place at all and Boehner just needs to pass a clean CR, preferably with a debt limit increase incorporated.

Obama has already delivered this. Think about it:

Russia is preventing us from starting a war (Syria) and China is lecturing us on how to control our financial situation. That would NEVER have happened in the past. Thanks Obama.

    It's interesting. Is it:
    1. Tea Party spawn have gotten well beyond what their Koch overlords intended?
    2. Kochs and their ilk actually don't care about a possible recession from default.

I believe in my bones that Boehner would do what the oligarchs say, but wouldn't the oligarchs want to avoid the default? Maybe they don't.

It was passed by Congress already, now it is time for Congress to pay for what has already been passed. They lost the power to choose not to fund it when it passed through Congress and was signed into law, then affirmed by the SCOTUS. They are welcome to work towards repeal through the normal legislative process (which has been attempted 41 times so far), but extortion is not the normal legislative process.

It is fairly standard bullying. The GOP is trying to bully the Senate and even the majority of the House into accepting changes to the ACA outside the normal legislative process. They threatened to, then shut down the government, it was the choice of the House GOP members to do so, and it is well within their power to resolve, if only Boehner would allow a vote on a clean CR.

In other words, you are believing the bull**** spin rather than facts and evidence, thank God the majority of Americans see the GOP as having the responsibility for everything that has transpired in this ugly episode.

Been picking up little undercurrents on the wingnut mind wave that might soon surface in a bigger way: push the country towards default with the hope that Obama won't allow it and tries to do something to prevent it. Whatever he does, claim it is unconstitutional and impeach him. Of course, they only think about satisfying the baser urges of their third grade ego and forget that the Senate would not convict. This might be the best thing possible, for they would spend all their energy on impeachment and become even more unpopular. Then again, it could be an utter catastrophe. Who can predict anymore with these guys?

The oligarchs will make money on the US defaulting, they have plenty parked overseas and may even be selling short certain holdings just in case of a default. I know this because these are the exact actions being taken by Goldman Sachs et. al. in advance of the meltdown in 2007 as well as the last debt crisis standoff.

Bingo. I read an article 45 days ago that billionaires had gone to cash so I am not sure how much of a bone somebody like Trump cares. The new line I am seeing this morning from some House republicans is that default may not be the boogeyman some portray as the U.S. never had one. Just incredible. You guys be ready for at least a 30 to 50 collapse in the markets if default occurs.

    ?? Where have you been?

    1) perjury
    2) obstruction of justice.

    Impeached by the House.

On the grounds that they don't like him or his policies and will do ANYTHING to make him look like a bad President, even if it means bringing our economy to its knees, again.

Are incompetence and a failure to lead grounds for impeachment? If so, he's toast

I must applaud the troll in chief for actually shifting this thread from the absolutely dangerous, nihilistic and reckless behavior of the House GOP... to... grounds for impeachment of Obama. Truly hilarious. Kudos, trolll-meister.
