I am looking forward to the Winter Olympics in Sochi but not NBC's coverage of it.

Switched it back to the closing ceremony for a minute. Oasis? They're an awesome band, but really? This is just a big crappy concert.

Will continue watching pr0n in its stead.

Those Brazilian pr0n ladies can get real freaky. Wouldn't mind if they take that route.

I just appreciate all kinds of art, is all.

And it would be a disservice to the hard working ladies in the pr0n if I didn't rub one out in their honor.

    rep, thanks for that post.

I was just wondering this, and it came in on time

Of course heavily populated countries will have the best chance at total medals. But in the "advanced metrics" pace adjusted stats era, its about seeing who produces more "efficiently" with less

During the finals of the 66 KG freestyle wrestling the commentators were saying that India has only won one individual gold in their Olympic history. Kind of surprising for the second most populous country in the world.

    That is surprising.

All things around even for everyone, more population = higher medal percentage

But yes, all things arent the same all around. It requires a culture that places importance on athletics, and builds a foundation to groom athletes. I don't know enough about India to speculate, but I don't want to say Indians just arent athletic "by nature".

I'm guessing it is that outside of cricket and a few other sports they haven't put a lot of investment into developing athletics. I am sure out of all of the Indians there must be some who have the potential to be world class athletes but they don't have an organization and support system to develop that potential.

One thing that I am also surprised is that with a new generation of very wealthy Indians why there hasn't been a push for them to invest into greatly improving their Olympics performance out of national pride.

During the first week of the games, it seemed like no one in the southern hemisphere, aside from Australia, can swim fast. South America, Africa, Middle East, India... probably only had a handful of elite swimmers. Are Indians and Arabs not into swimming? None did gymnastics, rowed a boat, rode a fast bike, etc. Meanwhile, America is winning medals in our sleep.
